So your stance is to cave in to every demand from egotistical youth and ship players out midseason regardless of how the team is performing. You want no chemistry or continuity, because MLS.

Sounds like a real winning strategy! Lololol

Thats not even close to whats going on here. There are multiple factors why THIS summer is Murillos best chance to move to Europe, the biggest maybe being the World Cup where teams have just watched him play on the biggest stage.

Hes not some egotistical brat throwing a fit about wanting to leave. But, as a pro soccer player you have to strike when the iron is hot. It sucks for us, but thats the deal when your league plays opposite most others and youre not Real Madrid or Barcelona. Although, even they lose guys like Ronaldo and Neymar from time to time.

In the winter I would be okay selling most guys if its truly a good opportunity and the money is right from a RBNY perspective, relative to time left on their contract.  For the summer it all depends on how prepared the squad is for the departure.

  • For example, I would not sell Kemar because we have no adequate left footed replace in the first or USL teams that could slide into his spot, while we figure out how to deploy the cash.
  • With Tyler, honestly from their moves last 12 months, they know there is a good chance he is gone this summer.  That's why they signed Rza, also why Casseres was signed, so he has time to fill the role next year, with Rza as the stopgap option.
  • Amir is somewhere in the middle.  With Duncan they were getting ready to sell him probably this summer or end of the year, depending on how quickly he adapted.  the injury was crap luck. But between him, Kutler and if they sign Olosunde then I'm okay if they go.  ex-academy guys who have played our system before adapt quicker than normal signings (i.e. Duncan).

Difference between a great front office and an above average front office isn't just being able to identify good players, but also knowing when you will need to have good players.  If Denis couldn't guess that in a World Cup year, other teams may have increased interest our player starting in the tournament he is crap at his job.

When they signed Murillo, he wasnt supposed to be in the World Cup, the US was. This year, when they knew he would be gone for the tournament and that there was already interest, they brought in Duncan. Duncan got hurt, how many right backs is he supposed to have on the roster? Our emergency right back, Lade, isnt an all-star, but hes serviceable. Plus, it sounds like theyre trying to bring in Olosunde to replace Murillo.

I think we can sell anyone on this team and not notice a huge dip in form. The only untouchables are long, parker and bwp. If we could get something for murillo then the team should sell.

Agree..  Personally put it at Parker, Long, Kaku, and BWP.  Some other players would hurt us if we lost them (like Taxi) but those 4 are everything to this team.

I don't even understand the interest in Murillo. Yes he is skilled on the ball but his soccer instincts are not good and he is way below average defensively. I don't have to work hard to think of several games where his marking (or lack thereof) cost us goals. See last year's US Open Cup for example. How he got picked ahead of Taxi for the All Star game is a mystery. Taxi not only has on the ball ability but he has become an excellent tackler of the ball and defender. That's who PSV should want. So glad they don't. We would potentially miss Murillo on one end of the field but be better without on the other.

Which is the reason why we should sell... Getting a significant fee from selling a player we do not believe is worth that amount.

I would Adams and Robles to that list. Those are the six that would be major losses. Outside backs are generally replaceable entities. That said, I believe Taxi may be the best at his position on the continent.

Agree with Taxi, disagree with Robles. We did ok with Meara filling in.

IMO, the biggest losses would be:

1. BWP - no one on the roster has shown themselves capable to regularly score goals

2. Taxi - the best left back in MLS, would be tough to replace him with anyone easily

3. Kaku - without him, we lack a real #10 in the lineup. I think if he leaves or gets hurt, we have to switch back to the 3-3-3-1

The biggest issue with Meara is health. Robles set the Ironman record and Meara played what, 3-4 games before he got injured? Id feel confident going into any single game with Meara, but Id be nervous relying on him an entire season or any long stretch.

So selling one or two players a year = "no chemistry or continuity"

I actually agree with you.  Team did the best they could once the US team crapped itself, and actually still turned it into a solid hand.  They actively signed a good wingback and groomed another one from the USL who has looked good in his appearances.  The statement was more in general.  I think Denis has done a good job since he took over, which honestly surprised me

not exactly an official source, but the dude is usually kinda reliable. Really hope this doesn't happen, our depth is getting stretched as it is. Don't need a very solid defender leaving in the middle of the season.

MLSTransfers is the guy who takes obvious things and calls them rumors or takes credit for others' hard work of getting the details then says "sources" like they are his own.

If he's right, its because it's obvious (i.e. Murillo is on the move with Europe likely so tie him to a lower league).
