Interesting note: Dan Metzger invited to MLS Combine, despite NYRB Academy ties.

@JerseySoccer8: he seperated himself from Red Bull for the last 2 yrs so he would no longer be locked in as an HG from what I hear

Is there any in this rout with authority to treat with me? Or indeed with wit to understand me?

Smart move for him - but how could we not have discovery on him?

Do we even want him?  From what I've read, he wasn't a must-sign and is very limited athletically.  People questioned his game being able to translate to the next level.

Wouldn't RB still have right of first refusal on him anyways, considering he went through the academy?

@travismclark the 2 big Glaring ones who did not play for their NPSL team last year were Metzger and Allen. Didn't want to be locked in

@travismclark but can still sign with them if they so choose and are offered a contract Gives player a little flexibility though for options

@JerseySoccer8 got it. I knew about Allen. Thanks.

Supposedly a kid who came through the FC Dallas academy is doing the same exact thing. It happens. Not surprisingly Davis is not on the combine list. Expecting an official announcement pretty soon.

Damn, I hope we offer them a contract both of them (Allen even more so) would be valuable to have in USL Pro next year.

MoS, Is this a big blow for us? Or is it alright he might pass through the cracks?

Not a big blow.  You can't take a few top youth players, give them the best coaching and expect them to be superstars.  It takes thousands of kids getting the best training to produce a few superstars.  The main goal of these academies is when you get a Donovan or Dempsey,  imagine how good they could have been with the best training

I like Christianson. It's debatable that's he's better than Christianson.

However, it's bad if we're producing these players and they are choosing not to sign with us.

Maybe he thinks we are unlikely to sign him due to having too many CMs and wants to be available to other teams. We should work out a way to trade him or his rights in that case.

What's the story with Allen? He seems like a guy that we would like to have on our roster.

He's trying to keep his options open. Didn't play with the U23s and opted to play with the Baltimore Bohemians in PDL.

He has another year of college (only a junior this year) and seems to be really committed to getting that degree first. Of course, he could jump at any time. FWIW, his twitter account is still @AllenRedBulls or whatever.

can't blame RBNY for this. team did its part for the training. the kid himself wants to possible go somewhere else to be a professional.
