Very important question:

Do we count these games in all-time competitions? Or do they go the way of La Manga / Emirates Cups?

Could we send these games to Montclair State and keep the Open Cup?

Na, we need the Mexican fans money and need them to experience what a beautiful stadium we have so they can never come back again unless its to root against us.

That would be the best case scenario in my opinion

Sometimes I think the entire Red Bull existence has been some 19 year old kids football manager save file he only plays when he comes home drunk. - 'Mibabalou'

midweek game scheduled in between 2 important league matches ... with 10,000 Chivas fans at the stadium to try and win a trophy that was created last year

Now that you describe it so well, perhaps I do!

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

CONCACAF sanctioned this tournament, so technically counts outside of friendly/exhibition.

Can we pass on any chance to win a cup?

Can someone explain to me what this cup signifies?

MLS Cup = Champions of MLS

Shield = Best team over the regular season

Open Cup = Team that wins a knockout competition open to every US soccer team

"Leagues" Cup = ????

I'm struggling.

Don Garber Pockets Appreciation Cup.

Signifies that your team played the best, despite knowing its cash grab and testing the joint league concept.

This cup competition is pointless and sucks*.

*Unless we win it, in which case it automatically becomes very prestigious and extremely important.

Good question.  Personally, I think that this tournament is a cash grab now, but think that it could become the Europa League of CCL eventually.

I saw a (albeit generous) interpretation that the Leagues Cup is MLS/Liga MX's way of pressuring CONCACAF into taking CCL more seriously in terms of prize money, television, etc.  Not sure if I believe that or not, but eh.

Frankly, since I am merely a fan and a not a fancy American soccer writer, I'm going to congratulate Wright-Phillips on a well hit goal. If I was an American soccer writer, I'd claim that the recently retired Henry was wearing an invisibility cloak and carried the ball into the net for the obviously unskilled Wright-Phillips.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.
