FWIW- 117 is closer to the beer...for all you Okocim, Corona, and Guinness drinkers. What we ought to do (and we should do this regardless of this song) is stick 10 people in the middle/top of 117. The start the response part and before you know it the rest of the section is doing it too. We just need to stick the people in 117.

Ok, this is rough, but follow along with the video and sing to yourself. The first lines are only at the beginning, then the next two sets constantly repeat. I sort of wish we could try this somewhere first; this might work.

Urbs in horto magicooo...
You are my one and only Chicagooo...
To dream in red, and dream in white
For you we will all shout into the night
Our Chicago
We love you so
Like heroin
Fire, a drug for Chicago
Just like hashish
Or LSD
For the Fire all of our city goes crazy (goes crazy)
Our Chicago (our Chicago)
We love you so (we love you so)
We will always follow anywhere you go (anywhere you go)
Fire here (Fire here)
Fire there (Fire there)
Where-ever you may go we will be there (we will be there)
I think it's actually not THAT complicated; the intro is only sung once and then it repeats over and over.
Awesome!

EDIT: also, Liam, those lyrics are kickass. I'm committing them to memory now.

I really like our start, and I'm so glad to see everyone has this song stuck in their heads like it is in mine. I don't think it's going away anytime soon.
Can anyone translate Greek? You'd think I could, but I'm only 25%, just enough to keep the long last name.
I like starting the song in Greek, then go to English, so we have a proper cue. But, the first line should be "A Magic Fire"
Urbs in (fire) magico....
You are my one and only Chicagoooo
To dream in Red, to dream in White (*I love this)
For you we will all shout into the night!
*Then I have a suggestion for the middle:
Our Chicago
We love you so
Like heroin
Fire, a drug for Chicago
Just like hashish
Or LSD
Oh Fire our whole city's high on you (we're high on you!)
*We might as well stick with the drug lines, and I think high on you fits better, especially in response
Oh Chicago (Oh Chicago)
We love you so (We love you so)
We will always follow you wherever you may go (you may go!) (*I think it needed another syllable)
Fire here (Fire here)
Fire there (Fire there)
We'll forever follow you, we will be there (we will be there!) (*same here)
There's my two cents.
Because one big idea is never enough, and Since we're on the topic of Midnight Yell, why not take the next logical step?
Clearly, not as big, but ideas for a Kickoff party? Fundraiser? You guys have those, right?

This no longer makes sense; "Urbs in horto" is the city's motto (city in a garden), and it was a play on the original song being "Horto magico". I know it's not explicitly Fire, but it teis in the city and the club. And it's got the 'oooooo's for the long beginning.Urbs in (fire) magico....
I like the basic idea, but 'crazy' rhymes with LSD; it flows better in song. There may be other ideas for the line.Oh Fire our whole city's high on you (we're high on you!) *We might as well stick with the drug lines, and I think high on you fits better, especially in response

Well, I guess its time to get an early start on this. My goal is RAGE-AVENGERS
I think if we can get some good lyrics to this, it could catch on and be next year's Allez Allez Allez. Its been discussed we need more sustained songs anyway. This thing is just an endless loop of ass-kickery.
I'll try to get some words down, but I figure I'd get the ball rolling by reminding everyone of the awesomeness.
Holy fucking Shite. Imagining this song with English/Spanish lyrics and red flags around Toyota Park makes me all tingly.

this is awesome! it fits perfect to the music and a fairly faithful translation. but one suggestion -- 'for the fire all our city goes crazy' is sort of awkward to sinng. how about 'for the fire there is complete insanity?'Urbs in horto magicooo...

I can't wait to sing and clap and jump along. this is great

you read my freaking mind. Another reason to get people/SL/anyone into 117 like Liam said. And with those red flags if something were to spontaneously combust....
Fire here (FUE-GO A-QUI!)
Fire there (FUE-GO A-LLI!)
*The crazy/high on you line. I forgot that it has to rhyme there. "high on you" rhymes when its in Greek. I just read our English again and keep thinking "saying craZY instead of CRAzy doesnt sound right" Maybe I'm just reading it wrong.

Urbs in horto magicooo...
You are my only Chicagooo...
To dream in red, to dream in white
For you we shout into the night
Oh Chicago
We love you so
Fi-re is a new kind of drug for Chicago
Just like hashish
Or LSD
For the Fi-re there's complete insanity
Oh Chicago (oh Chicago!)
We love you so (we love you so!)
We'll always follow you wherever you may go (where you may go!)
Fire here (Fire here!)
Fire there (Fire there!)
For Chicago you know we follow everywhere (oh everywhere!)
As for what the Section does physically to augment this song, I'm thinking along the line of these Ashdod ultras Everyone holds out their scarf and moves it up and down for the slower first part, then claps for the rest. This only sounds good if EVERYONE does it. This horto magico song may actually require a practice in the parking lot before the match.

It may be plus/minus a syllable, but I can't focus on it right now. It should be an easy fix either way if needed.
Physically, I like any kind of up/down (arms, scarves) for the beginning, then overhead clapping for the rest. the call/response is a no-brainer.
Ashdod Ultras...damn. I think we're on a roll finding stuff. It could be a fast off-season.

I don't think that sounds bad though. It's speedy and staccato, it keeps the rythym. Plus we're trying to keep the original intact as much as possible - you may be shoehorning too many syllables into the verses and not enough in the intro. These sorts of things work better in person where everyone can hear it sung. For a lot of them, it was a case of sentences stopping where they shouldn't in the song, like "Like Heroin, Fire a drug for Chicago" in the song sounds more like "Like heroin-fire a drug for chicago"
This may just be me, but we should be careful not to repeat 'follow' in the lyrics much. Or 'may' either, but that could be aural taste. "Our Chicago" was more proactive and accurate than just "Oh Chicago". Dimi's suggestion for the last line of the first verse is fan-fucking-tastic though and way better than mine. And the up-and-down scarf choreography is dynamite.
The unfortunate part of all this is it's the offseason and people will be tempted to fiddle with the lyrics for 4 months when we should be concetrating on people knowing it by the time the season rolls around; and redesign the song to death so no one cares anymore. Not much we can do about it without a match though; unless we all get to a Hawks game (hint).
==== ==== ==== ====
So here's a new V2.0 Urbs in Horto Magico with choreography and syllable breaks included.
*intro - move scarves/arms up and down to syllables*
Uu-urbs in horto-oo ma-gi-co-oo...
You are my one and only Chi-ca-go-oo...
To dream in red, to dream in white
For you we will all shout in-to the night
*first verse - clapping, jumping, flags*
Our Chi-ca-go
We love you so
Like her-o-in
Fi-re, a drug for Chi-ca-go
Just like hash-ish
Or L-S-D
For the Fi-re there's com-plete in-san-i-ty (in-san-i-ty)
*second verse - voice only*
Our Chi-ca-go (our Chi-ca-go)
We love you so (we love you so)
We will al-ways fol-low an-y-where you go (where you go)
Fire here (Fire here)
Fire there (Fire there)
For Chi-ca-go we shall tra-vel eve-ry-where (eve-ry-where)
