USA today has a couple of good graphs that show the 'curve' for new cases and a break by state: https://www.usatoday...eak/4945223002/

Some here criticize others for downplaying the risk.
At least no one here is saying the US invented it.
This is from the DM, itself a purveyor of BS:

All kind of crazy stuff reported out there:

There was a Chinese official spreading some garbage that US military caused the original of the virus. Can't find the link to the articles.

There was also a report about the current administration offering to pay 1B USD to a German lab to produce a treatment drug for the virus, exclusive to the US.

Random thought: are any leagues in Africa (which except for the north and South Africa appears to have been virtually untouched by this thing) currently still running? Seriously I'd enjoy say the Ugandan Premier League at this point just to watch live soccer.

Saw some Brazilian soccer on Bein sports yesterday. Not sure if it was live or repeat. Really miss live sports

Shame on Cuomo, Phil Murphy and Ned Lamont for effectively shutting down every restaurant in the tri-state area.

Think of the hundreds of thousands of people (and lots off the books) going home tonight from their jobs and waking up tomorrow without a source of income or livelihood. Why ruin the economy and lives of everyone over a miniscule portion of the population that already is self-quarantining? I hope they all recover -- but fuck, talk about an overreaction.

I was at one of my local bars this afternoon and you could cut the tension with a knife. All the workers were scared about their future.

Dude! Could you be any denser than a cork?

The reason for such drastic measures is to keep that so called minuscule percentage of the the population to those numbers! What we do not want to do is increase those figures. No-one is saying that it does not suck that a large segment of the population go from paycheck to paycheck and this will affect their livelihood, but do you also want to add a disease on top of it?

One more thing, you are being so disdainful towards those with a higher change of infection, let's see what your tune would be if one of your loved ones if affected and it stops being just another minuscule statistic.

Grant Wahl has an epidemiologist guest in last weeks planet futbol podcast who explains in simple language the nature of the virus and the why we are taking the precautions and sports teams are stopping all activities.

Granted it was from 5 days ago prior to all the closings and stuff but the facts remain the same.

It is a good listen if you have the time for it
