Along with scouting, this is an area one would think would benefit from being part of a giant global business entity.

Unless your owner doesnt give a fuck about you.

In their defense my understanding is that Visas are MUCH harder to get now. Some of that maybe had to do with the previous administration, but I dont know that the new administration has done anything to fix it, but then again its a pandemic sooooooooo (shrugs).

We are 8 months into trying to get Lamine Conte with NYRBII and he has lived in the States for a long, long time.

Still waiting on any word about Sswerwadda, who was all but announced as here with NYRBII.

Any Monzon update?

Sadly, visas are harder to get now than before and this organization already had struggled with helping players get them.

just because a player played on a student visa doesnt mean a work visa is easier can be complicated if player didnt know rules and worked a job in college. Was listening to Sirius xm and a lawyer was talking about how sometimes college kids work a camp etc and it screws things up big time when they try to get a work visa

The previous administration left on January 20th.
Other MLS teams do not seem to be having problems.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Brazilian winger Luiz Araujo signed with Atlanta from Lille on August 6, and made his debut on August 18.

Dejan Joveljic, a Serbian, signed with LAG from Frankfurt on August 5, and started for them against Minnesota on August 14.

Other teams manage to get international players into the country and on the field pretty quickly.

National Visa Center (NVC) Immigrant Visa Backlog Report

Last updated August 2021

Since March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically affected the Department of State’s ability to process immigrant visa applications.  U.S. embassies and consulates are working to resume routine visa services on a location-by-location basis as expeditiously as possible in a safe manner.  However, the pandemic continues to severely impact the number of visas our embassies and consulates abroad are able to process ...

"It was always six weeks away. Every month, [Nick Sakiewicz] would say, we're six weeks away from the stadium. It's been the longest six weeks of my life." - Mike Petke

But again, we seem to be the only MLS team who has issues with this.

This is very true. There was a player drafted that a MLS team did not sign because they were a lifeguard on campus and that caused problems with the work visa. If I remember correctly, the student visa needs to expire before a work visa can be given?

Exactly!!! Some fucking bullshit!!! So RedBull Global should either invest on the Academy or on a FUCKING IMMIGRATION LAWYER at this point.

Part of it is just the fact that we're in the NYC metropolitan area. There is simply an immigraion bottleneck that exists here which doesn't in, say, Columbus, Ohio.
