maybe DE can get some time on the wing as a starter, like he used to with RB2.

Theres hope, Marsch never really gave him a shot there, but Armas already has. Other than the miss, I thought Etienne played well there. Hopefully, well see more.maybe DE can get some time on the wing as a starter, like he used to with RB2.

BTW overlooked milestone this game--the team's 1000th regular season point. The win moved the total to 1,001 all time!

the miss was GLARING, but he did seem to combine well on the flanks considering he's pretty much only seen time up top with the 1st team

Etienne's finishing will come.
Everyone needed to finish better, after the quick opener.
We had 11 shots in the first half, converted only on the keeper muff. 2-0 would have made us all breath a lot easier for the remaining 90+ minutes.
Still, watching DC fans celebrate their equalizer, then having it reversed by VAR, was a fun moment.
We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

BWP missed a 1v1 as well
He looked good during the game.
Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

I wonder if maybe we as fans have been expecting too much of DE7 given the fact that most of his success has come as a midfielder and not as an out and out striker.
Are we trying to force him into a role he isnt suited for?

Prior to this game, he's surprisingly only underperforming his xG total by 0.4. That's definitely not great, but it's far from the worst on the team.I wonder if maybe we as fans have been expecting too much of DE7 given the fact that most of his success has come as a midfielder and not as an out and out striker.

Maybe he just seems more frustrating because of the narrative we've collectively built up about him?

I think thats it. We see a guy with a bag of tricks and just expect him to be an amazing goal scorer.Prior to this game, he's surprisingly only underperforming his xG total by 0.4. That's definitely not great, but it's far from the worst on the team.

It looks like DE7 is going to be his best in an advanced midfield role. Still hes going to need to improve his finishing because you need some goal production from that spot.

One area Armas seems to be better than Marsch was is trying in guys in different spots in games (Adams playing advanced, Etienne playing wide).I think thats it. We see a guy with a bag of tricks and just expect him to be an amazing goal scorer.

after rewatching the DC game on ESPN+, DE had a very good game in 60 minutes, but the glaring miss is the one thing we are talking about. he really de-fucking-pantsed some DC players on the field, though. made some of those fuckers look STOOOOPID, while also combining with Taxi on the left flank quite a bit.
