The SGs have the power to put immense pressure on the team and bring attention to the situation. I suspect they fear backlash from the FO. ESC is mostly old school guys/gals who I can't imagine support this owner or decision.

If thr were 15000 listening to live seeing red, i hv to imagine lot of esc guys were too. Seems like in their heart they do feel the vengeance but they would rather not act for the reasons u mentioned

i don't support the owner. without question, but the other owners of this team were ineffective as well.

Laughable.

Are we allowed to have a board meeting before making a decision, or do we have to only make knee jerk reactions without consulting each other or membership?

If you guys want us to run the club like an Illuminati, we can.

Aren't you lovely. Go ahead and tell us from your SG member position why saying and doing nothing was the right play here.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa... quit the infighting... That's how movements die. As a non-SG member, I trust that the SGs will officially jump in and do their part when they can. Until the SGs are willing and able, non-SG members and independently-acting SG members will carry the message.

If you look at the history of Red Bull club takeovers in Europe, supporters groups have had ZERO impact. They have been organized but have generally just decided to leave and start a new club. If real change is desired the soccer mom's, and summer camp groups are probably more important. With that said the SG's could do a lot to get those people inspired and mobilized.

The casual fans have given $5000+, and started a real media buzz.

Your supporters, the people that the club uses as the face of the arena (literally - http://www.newyorkre...om/redbullarena), have issued a press release.  The supporter groups OFFICIALLY need to get involved with this ASAP - or they risk being viewed as nothing more than the club's cheerleaders.

I don't think 'casual' fans contributed all that much to the cause.  My description of a casual fan is someone who shows up once or twice a year.  I know that fans of the club, non-affiliated or affiliated, more then likely contributed the most.  I contributed and I'm a member of the ESC.  I don't expect the ESC to do anything beyond issue a statement, which they did.  The purpose of the club and it's leaders is to serve it's members.  There are members of the ESC that feel this latest debacle is just another bump in the road, and choose to support the club regardless.  There are members like me that feel that you should be able to still go to games to support the 11 guys on the field, but also urge and support the Red Bull Out movement and will boycott Red Bull through other channels like merchandise and concessions.  And then there are members who are completely finished with the club until Red Bull leaves.  It's not up to the club to decide who's side they're going to take.  The club will follow it's own bylaws, and the whole purpose of the club is to provide support for the team, therefore the leadership will and should continue in that direction.  Some in 101 will still fly RB colors, some won't, but all decisions should be respected.

As for the VA, I believe they were the first to organize a protest in front of the actual stadium last Thursday.  I don't know how many people showed up or whether it actually happened, but I believe it was planned.  Maybe someone with inside knowledge can comment.

No clue where GSU stands on this, and don't really care.  But I do know of at least one member who's more than displeased, as indicated by his to Seeing Red podcast last night.

Non so member here. The SAS fought for fireworks and cursing in the stadium. I'm sure they will voice their opinion (in unison) when the time is right.

"In response to inquiries, the ESC Board has issued the following statement in regards to firing of head coach Mike Petke:

The Empire Supporters Club is highly disappointed in today's managerial change by the New York Red Bulls. Mike Petke, a beloved player and coach for this team, won the Supporters' Shield in 2013 and advanced to the conference finals in 2014. He was fired because Ali Curtis felt like it, nothing more, nothing less. If this is Mr. Curtis' idea of connecting or ingratiating himself with the fans, then he either has a very rough time ahead of him, or someone will show mercy on him and make his tenure as sporting director very short.

Mike Petke is the only person to have a lifetime membership with the ESC, and is welcome to join us anywhere at any time. He will be welcomed as a hero, as he should be. Thank you for your service, Mike."

The front office must be crapping their pants!!!!  Very powerful stuff.

For anyone saying an ESC member is organizing the billboard....while true, let's use our brains a little.  If an ESC member robs a bank on his own time, is ESC a bank robber group?

I posted this last week......the official supporters group position is to:

1. Show up at the 1st game of the season.

2. Drink beers and laugh.

3. Pat each other on the back and have a grand old time.

Nothing in the world will get in the way of their own good time....NOTHING!

And if that's the way the supporters groups want to run themselves, I 100% completely advocate for their right to do so.  I may not agree but will defend their right to govern themselves however they please.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York. I wasn't aware you were CC'd on the emails and had been part of the internal discussion. Wait, what's that? You haven't? Oh. You're not even a paying member? Well this is awkward.
