When Red Bull first bought the team, their approach was to bring stars to NY (Henry, Cahill, ect). They changed philosophy in 2015, and I do agree that they really could be running this club anywhere in the country. Being in NY now adds very minimal value to the club, even though our location SHOULD be our greatest asset. NY and LA teams should have an advantage over any other city...but now Red Bull never takes advantage of the NY location.

They use the NY location.....just more for the NJ/NY metro pipeline of youth talent to grow and sell. If the MLS club does well, cool....but that's clearly not the priority.

Any other year i'd be annoyed about this, but it's 2020 and we all have much bigger hills to die on.

How unexciting is it? I just realized they started playing the regular season again yesterday and had missed 2 games. I was so bored by the tournament and the teams performance that i'd completely lost interest.

Covid era sports suck to watch. Covid era sports with 2020 Red Bulls is worse.

You could also write about how RBNY maintained continued success without spending nearly as much on high profile players as other teams....but the glass always has to be half-empty to some folks.

Ok, so there's some asshole guy out there that is on the fence and instead of looking at the facts and making a decision, he's going to not support BLM because the lead up to kickoff had 5 minutes BLM content.  OK...  I just don't think that guy would ever support BLM and is looking for an excuse to not sound racist.  If you know this guy, let him know not supporting BLM because it's all over MLS coverage is NOT a legitimate reason.

Seems like a small price to pay if the players want to continue to support BLM.

There's also room in this world for people to have more nuanced discussions about a topic like BLM and not be 100% one way or the other. You can actually support almost all of the BLM movement, but not buy into every statement or activity that's been done in support of it. But of course nobody wants to live in that world anymore. It's doesn't fit in a facebook post or on the front of a T-Shirt.
