Dead horse topic if ever there was one, but, here's an NYTimes story about RB & their rise through the German ranks, if someone is inclined to read about our German cousins.

I wish the Times could cover our local soccer team of the same name with the same thoroughness- you know, THE ONE YOU CAN SEE FROM THE TOP OF THEIR BUILDING IN MIDTOWN- but anyway, that's an entirely separate dead horse.
Overall, I'm kind of mixed on the RB Leipzig thing. I think having a company support a team as a benefactor can be ok (Wolfsburg & Leverkusen are both mentioned, and neither of those really rankled me), when done properly. RB obviously eschews doing it properly with the names & badges, hence the gnashing of teeth.
In the case of RB Leipzig though, the club they took over was legitimately a minor league outfit, who sold their license and then reformed under the old name, so it was really just a paper transfer of little note. Plus, you could argue- as the article notes- that Leipzig had a large stadium and no real team to root for, so RB filled a void rather than taking over something with a more significant history (top tier league, etc.) and re-branding it.
But anyway, it's a decent article.
