#1267394 World Cup and Olympic Qualifying - who do we lose

Posted by elf on 03 September 2015 - 04:05 PM

Skill wise I think he is, but you're probably right. The German is too invested in his pet projects

At some point he does give up on his pet projects.... Robbie rogers and michael orozco, danny williams use to be regular call ups. None of them made it to world cup and faded during qualifiers

#1267061 Luke Woodland on trial apparently

Do you really think the main reason why RB is trialling a 20 year young player who came from an English academy and the English youth national team is becuase he is some percentage Filipino?

No, prob because Dooley recommended him

Why are people complaining abt money being spent or not spent when we are doing well in the league.

As long as the team gets results, I don't care if they field 10 yr olds who get paid in penny's or break the bank to get Pele to come out of retirement.

As long as we win, who cares? You can win mls with either approach.

The team's strength is the at number of good prospects who should get developed. So if they take the development  approach that is fine.

#1265977 Dax's Contract

Posted by elf on 17 August 2015 - 09:47 AM

So here's a fun scenario. Going into next season we have BWP, Kljestan, and Veron filling the DP spots. Both Miazga and Dax demand DP wages in order to stay in NY. What does Ali do?

You can make an argument that neither deserve a dp contract since they have not broken into the usmnt.

Miazga doesn't even deserve dax's or roy miller's current salary. They had to prove that they were consistent mls starters before they got that paycheck. If Zubar is healthy he would prob got to the bench. If anything Miazga earn the right to earn the same as Perinelle.

Dax is in his prime and plays an important role for this team. However guys like Trapp, Kitchen, and Zardes are getting looks for the usmnt and are not dp. These are borderline usmnt players. So why should Dax get a dp salary? He earn the right fot a high mls contract but not dp worthy. If he wants a dp contract then he needs to show that he belongs with the usmnt.

To bench Grella would be harsh, he has played well after a slow start to the season and has earned his chance in the starting XI. One option could be to bench felipe, move Sacha next to Dax and play Veron as an attacking midfielder.

Veron should be subbed in for bwp or grella.

Grella has done a good job. Maybe have grella go 60 mins and veron go 30 mins. Helps. VEron get adjusted to league and lowers expextation.

Veron will eventually show that he is a superior player but he should show it in those 30mins

Having ppl entitled to a position doesn't  sound like good policy.

And that is soccer folks. The best team did not win the game.  Hats off to marsch for doing the right thing and taking the cup seriously. I hope he continues with that commitment  next year.

#1262191 2015 Salary Info!

Posted by elf on 18 July 2015 - 09:56 PM

The problem is that the east sucks and other teams at this point are making upgrades while we are dormant. DC added Sabrio, NYCFC are addding pepole, Orlando City is looking to upgrade and the Fire are looking to add Drogba. Im not looking for a world class talent. Im looking for someone to make a impact.

Let the fire add Drogba, and let nyc fc bring in aging stars that r not worth it.

I would rather see Etienne sign with team

#1261602 Scouting South America

Cris DaSilva hard at work, lol.

I just don't see why they shackle him and not let him get South American talent. Boggles the mind.

Maybe because he is no longer with the rb

Bonomo and ballo look like players for the usl team.

There is prob going to be a shortage of usl players when the hs kids go to college.

#1260279 2015 Open Cup

Posted by elf on 06 July 2015 - 03:36 PM

Quick poll.. Guys have been getting hurt in the Open Cup.. Sam and a serious injury to Duvall come to mind right away.

Is all this worth it in the grand scheme of things? Are people happy we are going hard at the Open Cup but losing guys to injury as a result?

I'm kinda torn at this point.

Yes, you play to win the game. Marsch is doing a great job by mixing reserves and stars and keeping us competitive in all tournaments

I am okay with lade starting over duval. He looked good.

#1257008 Fire Ali Curtis

Posted by elf on 06 June 2015 - 10:11 PM

Look, Curtis (and to a lesser extent Marsch) is a nothing, at least so far. There's no evidence he knows what he's doing as a SD/TD/GM/whatever (no real evidence he doesn't, either). There's plenty of ill-informed opinion that he's doing a good job and the Red Bull are "on the right track", but that's all it is, opinion.

While other teams (e.g. Seattle, Toronto, LA, Orlando, NYCFC) are making big signings, all we get are silly excuses as to why it can't or shouldn't be done.

I am not asking for big signings.... just  competent players.

Even convey can give us a better performance then our LMs

I don't have the list of players out of contract. I don't care about specific names. They are not trying. That's the point.

Gerrard? Lampard? Cubo Torres? Come on. Each of these situations are different. Gerrard was signed with an agreement that he is coming midseason. Lampard was a colossal clusterfuck of a signing by Man City. Torres was loaned out by MLS. That being said, all those players will be in MLS by midseason. As opposed to the Phantom Player To Be Named Later that is joining us.

Pretty much every other team had improved themselves this past offseason by signing players from outside the league. Heck, Colorado has 3 DPs! Philadelphia! San Jose! No, not each of these DPs has worked out, but at least these other teams are trying. We? Yes, we acquired Klejstan, and USED ALLOCATION MONEY TO BUY HIM DOWN FROM DP, A MOVE THAT SEVERELY HINDERS THEIR ABILITY TO SIGN PLAYERS BUT LOOKS GOOD ON RED BULL'S BOTTOM LINE.

Don't you understand it? They are not signing that "bigger impact" player. Not now, not in the winter, not in the summer. They said it themselves, time and again. And if you keep deluding yourself, well, the joke is on you.

We don't need a big impact player. We just need guys that can do the job.

We have no one at LM, weak at the 2 CB positions, weak at RB position, no depth at forward.

Marsch  should be given an award for achieving the record he has with such wholes on the team.

The guy who is at fault for such a mess is Ali curtis. He is the brains behind this collapse.

You can't give a chef rotten  fish and expect it to taste like filet mignon.
