Has the club ever given a player two contract extensions in the span of a year? I did not see this coming, and while I'm more than happy to have Nealis locked down I'm curious what the incentive was for Red Bull to give him a pay bump because he did not seem like a flight risk.

It's really good they are taking care of people before season is over. I bash our management a lot, but good on them.

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

We need much better players than Sean Nealis if we want to win anything.

Nealis is a surprisingly divisive player among RBNY fans. Even just a few posts into this thread opinions are split between "very happy" and "yuck" lol.

He has been the single point of consistency across a back line that has had one of the best defensive records in the league since he became a regular starter. His game has limitations and they stick out like a sore thumb sometimes, but he is definitely good enough imo to be a starter on an MLS Cup quality team.

lol he doesn't play striker.

our D is pretty good - not 2018 or 2021 great but pretty good

as said he has limitations but is consistent and on a top 5 in East team.

Good for the team to have 2 local guys re-up with the squad.

RIP Guillermo Romulo, Alexander Francis Orig, Celenio Eleazar, and my Mom, Resurreccion Eleazar.

RIP Cesar Castello, Mike Vallo, Glenn Stampiglia, Bob Paquette, and Warren Lee

Terrible with the ball at his feet, at least most times he puts it out of play.

Inaccurate long ball passer, which is key to this stupid system that bypasses the midfield often.

Too handsy in aerial duels which often leads to cheap fouls.

Well obviously lol but we need to improve at numerous positions besides goal otherwise we'll continue to be the mid team that we are.

Don't know the actual stats on it but Coronel bailing this team out numerous times is also a major reason why our defensive numbers look better than they actually are.

all relevant points yet our D is still pretty good.

Happy to have Sean locked up here for a long time.  If we didn't have him in 2021 it would have been no bueno.

Teams job is to find someone to come in a compete/develop to supercede him - like Reyes or someone like that.

Coronel has not been this good this year. A couple of great games, but beyond that, very average.

Sean Nealis is a quality MLS CB. His brother on the other hand can feel free to leave at any time.

I cant do both for another season. Praying for DNealis option decline, let Mullings be the backup to a new signing.

He is good in a 5 man line. In a four man line, he struggles.

I am okay with keeping him but I hope we are not paying him more than 300k.
