It's impressive. He's the most confident guy on the field every game it feels like. Laughing, checking in with guys, jokingly pushing opponents when they make a good play. He's turned super Saiyan with that blonde redo and is just playing at a higher level.

I really liked that when Mullings and Reid made their first-team debuts, Tolkin made a point of running up to them and congratulating.

we're going to lose him during the Gold Cup

JT is on the 60-player preliminary roster, as a D.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

We are officially going to lose him for the gold cup. Who's our backup left back? Mullings?

He could miss 6 games if they go to the final - first game 6/24 final 7/16

06.21 We 7:30 League New York Charlotte     06.24 Sa 7:30 League New York Atlanta     07.01 Sa 7:30 League Columbus New York     07.08 Sa 7:30 League New York New England     07.12 We 7:30 League New York Cincinnati     07.15 Sa 9:30 League Salt Lake New York

Harper should get the bulk of the time with maybe some time for Ofori or Reid.

Did Mullings play on the Left?

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Mullings was just getting some games in as a left back. I believe he is injured, same with Ofori (neither have featured the past few matches for NYRBII). Reid isn't MLS ready.

Likely see Dylan Nealis on the left and Duncan (if healthy) or Harper on the right. May also see Reyes-Ndam-SNealis with Harper/DNealis as wingbacks.

So much dreck on this roster, a lot of wasted roster spots.

Harper is the easy choice to start on the left, I think he's better there than on the right.

Congrats to Tolkin!

Good interview on Scuffed....

#402: John Tolkin joins the pod ahead of Gold Cup | Scuffed | U.S. soccer, World Cup, Yanks Abroad, futbol in America (simplecast.com)

A couple pertinent tidbits: 1) he'd rather play straight LB in a possession-based system (not RB-style) 2) he wants to go to Europe asap - if a good spot came up, it did not sound like he wanted to see out the season  :(

Feels like we need FBs, Strikers, and creative left winger-ish player....

I think he did okay against Jamaica. Combined nicely with the midfield.

Yeah, compared against most of the defensive players, I think he was up there with Turner.

Named to the Allstar team, well deserved. This plus a gold cup USMNT callup, have to think Europe is not far away for him.

Figure at this point he's going to leave so now I'm hoping that he starts scoring a bunch of goals to inflate the price a little.

scoring goals seems to be the only thing he's lacking....
