We need DPs in our DP slots.  Luqi is not a DP.

Do you believe the FO will bring in two attacking DPs this winter to necessitate opening up his spot?

Until that point, I don't see any rush to push Luquinhas out the door.

Of course not.    But if we are only going to get rid of players when we are confident we will replace them with someone better, we'd never get rid of players.

Exactly. We know it's not working with the players above. Obviously they need to be replaced but there's 100% no chance that they make things work. At this point, I don't even know why anyone would consider Luq a TAM level player. Ultimately this is about results and he gets none. That's a huge problem.

So just don't get rid of them. Since when is continuity a bad thing? Hang on to the talent you've got until you need room for better talent. Getting rid of Luquinhas right now just means that Wiki Carmona sees more minutes, surely that's not what you actually want.

Too early

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

I know Luqui's salary isnt high but wasn't his transfer fee to high to be bought down to a TAM deal?  He only signed a 3 year deal with option for 4th so depending how option is treated his cap hit is $2.33mn and best case is $2mn.  Thats well above the TAM limit.  Only way we can get another DP is if its a U22 guy.

Personally I would sell Luqui to save on the salary/DP slot with whatever you can get over $1mn (dont like how him and morgan compliment each other).

We know they wont turnover whole squad but if we still want to play 4-2-2-2 I need a Sebastian Blanco type left winger (DP), attacking oriented 8 (young DP) and an another forward (TAM).  Trade/sell Burke, Luqui, one of Yearwood and Amaya.  plenty of others to get rid of too but bottom roster stuff we actually have good replacements for (i.e. Wiki for Kasule).

Luq's guaranteed salary is $1,206,042.00. Rbny would need 600k to make him a non DP player.

Morgan makes $1,375,000.00. Rbny would need roughly 700k to make him a non Dp as well.

Whether or not it is wise to use so much tam to make them non DPs is a different question. I think it is worth it if we can bring in 2 more DPs.

transfer fees still count against the cap hit unless the rule changed this year.  $3.5mn fee brings it over the TAM limit comfortably

Looks like they still average out all guaranteed payments over the course of guaranteed portion of the contract, so wages and fee combined yeah he'd eat up pretty much all of the $2.4M in TAM teams get next year. And that's with Morgan apparently on a TAM contract. They'd need another source of allocation money, maybe CCJ's transfer fee.
