Hot damn!

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

This is a best-of-3? Admittedly, I don't follow nearly as closely as I used to, but I didn't realize I was this out of the loop. Seems incredibly stupid and inconsistent. All round single-match except round 1 . . . why?

Format seems to change annually. Always a year late for us.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

New format this year. I wasn't aware either until a month or two ago.

My guess as to why is that it guarantees every club that makes the playoffs has one meaningful home game that fans can attend. That was the case before with the aggregate two-legged format yet they went away with that by switching to single-elimination.

The best of 3 is to give Apple more games, Im not sure there was a secondary consideration.

Same recollection here, seemed like a not-so-hidden secret that Apple just wanted more playoff games cause those make more money.

The team at best was mediocre during most of the season. As it has been said before if you get hot at end of season you can end in the play offs.  Hopefully they can continue this and finally win the MLS cup.

It was a surreal ride last night. Manoel was on fire. Hope he keeps that fire stoked. My worry is for Edelman's injury. Any word on how he's doing? We need him to neutralize Acosta.

Edelman was so good yesterday. Two assists as well, more than the regular season total!

Money.   The first round has the most teams and the most attention.

Yea, the format is definitely about dollars.  There is also the benefit that the "better" team is less likely to get knocked out early.  The more games that are played in a series, the more likely the better team will come out on top.
