Yes because we usually get to watch a team good enough to make playoffs unlike many teams but not ok that we have not won trophy

Why don't you think it has translated to other fans and neutrals excitement?  The place wasn't exactly packed last night with plenty of notice and on a beautiful night.

🤷‍♂
Id start with mark fishkin list which is up to ~40 reasons

Atmosphere was AMAZING
Game was super intense with crazy drama

Miazga was like a WWE character - hero turned villain
Laughing my ass off he got himself suspended

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

City won a Cup and their attendance has been poor too. NYC is a bad area for anything thats not the best. I think MLS not being the best league in the world hurts it with some people here.

His is a good list..  Just making the point that this playoff streak outside of a couple dozen people here doesn't move the excitement needle.  If it did, more people would be interested and have attended the match.

And yes to your other points.  Loved the Miazga drama.  I am Still only 80% sure he was mocking us.

Stadium was excellent last night atmosphere wise.  Good crowd that was into it.

This! New Yorkers/Jersians have no shortage of entertainment options. We dont want to watch minor league teams. If Red Bulls signed Messi it would be the 1977 Cosmos and Studio 54 all over again. One of the hottest tickets in the area. It is not enough to just market USMNT internationals Adam, Long, Tolkin. I would gladly take players like a just past his prime Thierry Henry and impactful Tim Cahill again. We werent Miami FC with Messi, but at least the place could fill up from time to time.

IIRC, RBA was not a full house when they played.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

The whole team is just so anonymous. Kudos to Tolkin for making himself notable around MLS, but he really had to work at that.

The last signing that a casual soccer fan may have recognized is legitimately Shaun Wright-Phillips. That was 8 years ago. There's nothing new to ever get excited about.

There was one signing who made an impression:

He made more news by departing to the desert.

Physical attendance was miles better 2010-2014, and there were occasional sellouts. Which is what I meant by from time to time. Now you only sell out for a friendly against a European power or if Miami comes to town. I want to see 18k night after night.

YMMV. We will never see accurate turnstile counts.

not true. Many ny teams have been awful but have consistent attendance sell outs. Knicks are famous for this. Your asking the wrong question. The real question is does the local community have an attachment to the club.

The teams can be bad, but the leagues are the best. Theres no debate that the NBA, NFL, MLB, & NHL are the top leagues in the world for their sports.

The Knicks and Rangers play in MSG! There are so many corporate seats, and seats sold to travelers that those clubs could trot out teams of U14 kids and there will be 18k in attendance. You cant compare it to the demand for an MLS ticket. People will go to YS to watch the Yankees, but not necessarily NYCFC. You can better compare the Red Bulls to the Devils and Islanders. When those teams are poor attendance drops. Not sure if the Devils ever have solid attendance.

Not to mention they are the only teams in the area that play at a transit hub that connects 4 boroughs, NJ and LI.

Devils attendance has looked great last year and very early on this year.

Devils attendance has been so much better since moving to Newark because you use to be only able to drive to games at the Meadowlands.

Also their attendance has been solid even with the team being basically horrible for an entire decade before last season.

I'm a season ticket holder there as well so I'm at every game, this and last season have had tons of sell outs and packed crowds. Been much better attendance than our Red Bulls.
