Excuse me, but I have to ask the blog.

Is Ryan Meara that damn bad  ?

Should have a statue erected in his honor for how long he's stuck it out .

Perfectly fine with Meara being the spot starter when needed. But seeing him in limited action last two seasons, he has lost a step.

Gulacsi coming would not endanger Meara's spot, it would Coronel's.

Ryan is an amazing shot blocker and plays fearless.

he struggles a little with his distribution but the biggest issue for him is his hip.

he has not been able to stay healthy when he was given the number 1 job. At this point in his career, i would not be shocked if he retires or becomes a GK coach.

Has nothing to do with meara
Perceived upgrade from coronel and as Metrofanatic said probably to replace Carlos or maybe Carlos ready to try Europe again
Also maybe Meara retires 12th ?!? year and is 32
Maybe wants to retire

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

I kinda just assumed Meara was cool taking a back-up role all these years. Decent salary, close to home, the org and fans like you. Not a bad gig!

He's past being a starter in this league though. Goes longer and longer between games as the years go on, and looks rustier and rustier when he does play.

Does Marcucci's new contract make him a senior player? If so, there is absolutely no way they will keep 3 senior goalies in the 20-man roster, right?

And we do have an opening for goalkeeping coach...

God, I hope not on Marcucci. But this team is really bad at managing a roster. Getting Mearas salary off the books and handing him some nonsense job, not GK coach, would be ideal.

"Stuck it out?"

He gets paid very well to hang out and get spot starts.   Its not a bad life.

My bad -- I thought Proud was interim, but he was "promoted" to first team.

According to this, which links paywalled website that originally broke it:

"Because the new coach, Rose's friend Sandro Schwarz, 45, wants to put the three larger salaries into three outfield players, RB goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, 33, is out of the New York rumor mill."

Good.

Good.

If this is true that the new regime wants to actually use all 3 DP slots on outfield players, then bring in the new regime!

Forsberg is the 3rd DP, now what becomes of Luquinhas and Vanzeir is unknown but they would need at least one of the 3 to be a young DP or they dont get all the U22 spots (even though they dont use them anyway)

Also theres a rumor of a potential 4th DP coming but that is dependent on the owners agreeing to it.

Doesnt there have to be a 4th? How can Miami keep up Miami-ing without a 4th spot?

Oh, MLS has a long history of loopholes, from Lothar to Dempsey to whatever the F Miami was allowed last year...
