The 09 group is very deep a lot of interesting prospects. Adri mehmeti is the one of the best 09s in the country. Albanian dual nat so doesnt have a EU passport yet. He plays with the u-17s and when hes not there that team is sees a significant drop is quality which says a lot about his ability.

Do you think the deepness of this group speaks to Thelwell, or is it just a random occurrence?

think its mostly the academy staff but think thelwell did a good job of empowering them and listening to their needs and then trying to get them what they needed.

makes sense to have 17y/o and 18y/o playing together before college/pro decision rather than have a weird gap year for guys who are on the pro college fringe I'd guess.  First thought is this is a good thing.  Still a ton of room for development for U16 age group where you'd want them to have a dedicated group to play in if needed.

Sorry but that league is not good enough. That is a league filled with kids.

We saw last season that many of those teams struggled against nasl teams.

Top prospects need to play against guys who are stronger and faster then them.

nasl doesnt exist so not sure how you saw those teams struggle against them? Its perfect for what we are using it for which is a team that is essentially a u-20 team by 18-19 our top prospects should be pushing for first team minutes and using rb2 for fitness and confidence. Usl was not working for us at the end and Id argue doing more harm than good. That league is full of older career minor league grinders its imo not a better proving ground as the jump to mls is still big which is why good usl players rarely ever jump
