I love Peguy, but 'PSG legend' is a bit like calling Mike Pagliarulo or Pat Kelly New York Yankees legends.

I guess I'd have to ask some PSG fans, but his best years were with other teams, notwithstanding the local connection they could have mentioned instead.

So if the max to spend on players is 750K, and we hit it with the 3M sale, doesn't it make sense to sell twice -- and get 750K twice?

I understand that the $ over 750K could be spent on infrastructure, but you're essentially betting that you will get that down the line when he is re-sold.

(Of course, MLS rules change every year*, so who knows.)

That's what I'm getting at, if they're just going to use the DP slot on Damari or Veron types, might as well keep Rzatkowski, we know he can play.

We never owned Rza. We'd have to negotiate a transfer to Salzburg, which means he would almost certainly wind up being a Designated Player. I like Rza, but not at the expense of a DP slot.

I'd agree with this in principle, if not for the fact that the way this team has used the DP rule over the past few years is either to absorb the transfer fee of B level South Americans (and calling Veron a B-level Argentine player is probably generous,) or to promote players we already own to DP level salaries.

If it's the choice between adding a $5 million player or Rzatkowski as a DP including his transfer fee, then it's obvious, but if it's a choice between DP Rzatkowski or some unknown South American with a similar pay arrangement (that maybe saves them a few hundred thousand over the contract,) I think I'd rather have Rza, who at least has demonstrated he can produce here and gel with the system.

Related question - when was the last time they actually used all 3 DPs?

Blood money

He's going to Leipzig, not Manchester City.
