Back up your claim with evidence. Did all of our rivals maintain as much consistency as we did in our lineup? Do we have these numbers because we consistently fielded the same top 4 or do we have the same top 4 because of their numbers?

Similarly, are zebras white with black stripes, or black with white stripes (#7NationArmy)?

I think two (Sam assists, BWP goals) are in line with expectations.  Everything else though, yeah, especially Sam's goals and Grella generally.

Maybe from the before the start of the season these results would be shocking. But at this point, with the minutes these four have played over the rest of the attacking options, the numbers are not particularly surprising.

Sam has played 726 fewer minutes this season than he did last season.  Kljestan only recorded double-digit assists once with Chivas (2007) and had never scored more than 5 goals.  I don't think anyone expected League One washout Mike Grella to do anything in any way resembling what he has done this season.  BWP, I'll grant you, is performing about as well as most above-average MLS strikers would in his position.

Saying that these numbers are the result of just playing does a real disservice to the work that both the players and the coaching staff have put in.

Agreed, these numbers are surprising. It's NOT surprising that these four lead the team in attacking stats given their playing time. These are two different points. If SWP and Sam swapped minutes, I'd expect SWP to have the better stats. Not saying he would have done as well as Sam - I doubt he would have. Just saying you'd expect the guys getting the majority of minutes to have the better stats.

What the stats really tell you is how balanced we are. Everyone is helping the other. I know I get pissed sometimes when we don't seem to shoot enough, preferring to pass the ball to the next man, but the results don't lie over the course of the long season. Team play over reliance on a few stars has us in a strong position. Our consistency has been paramount. Our record has not been the result of big hot and cold streaks, but steady multi player production (defense/Robles included in that comment, of course).

Exactly - we basically have a remarkably identical goals per game rate going compared to last year, its just spread out more.

Look at Toronto or NYCFC to see how well the opposite strategy works.  LA has big stars, but surrounds them with Gonzales, Lletget, Juninho, Zardes, etc., so I wouldn't say they have an over-reliance on their stars

Remarkably, (to me at least),  LA's top 2 scorers have 45% of their total goals - same as us.

Their top 3 have 57%, same as us.

Top 4?  65%, same for both of us.
