MLS Next Pro was officially announced:

https://www.espn.com...next-pro-league

RBNY2 will not play in it next year but will be in the league in 2023.

The league will include an independent Rochester team - the old Rhinos who have rebranded as Rochester NY FC.  All other teams as of now are MLS reserve teams.  It's kind of curious why Rochester would play in the MLS reserve league and not USL.

Ali Curtis  has a position with the league with some vague title.

Senior Vice President of Competition and Operations for MLS NEXT Pro! A high muckety muck!

The 400-page plan lives!
President Charles Altchek previously worked for RBNY.
Anyone remember him?

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

NYRBII will be forced to join in 2023. I know the leadership at NYRBII prefers USL but the 2023 mandate to move is being enforced from both sides.

Cristopher Cragwell, Panamanian defender of Árabe Unido de Colón, could go to Major League Soccer (MLS). To what institution? They tell me that he would go to the second team of the New York Red Bull. Possibility more than real. Nothing closed yet. Fringes #LieNoEs

20 year old Panamanian CB playing for Arabe Unido in the domestic league. Started 14 matches in the recent Clausura

26 matches played over ~3 seasons, 2000+ mins. This yr and last, whenever he was on the field, he played a lot of minutes.

Been told cb is an area of focus for Red Bull 2 recruitment. Its a weakness of the academy and generally players need more time to mature physically.

I watched a few games that Cristopher Cragwell played in he is about 6ft 190 fast, compact and very strong in the air for someone his height... He remind me of the young center back the Red Bulls had from Panama a few years ago

Still no announcement on the NYRBII players.

Players unknown:
1. Juan Castillo - Edgardo Rito similarities. Not sure if he's back
2. Lamine Conte - never got his visa situation figured out. Only the second player in NYRBII club history to have a contract but not play a match.
3. Emir Tombul - atrocious for most of the year at CB, but no other options available. Did improve by the end of the year.
4. Steven Sserwadda - he will be back
5. Daniel Edelman - he will be back, but possibly with the MLS contract
6/7. Jake LaCava, Jeremy Rafanello - both talented players. LaCava dropped off a bit this year and Rafanello was relatively steady. LaCava has the connection with McCafferty that may keep him here. Rafanello good enough to stick around another year.
8. Kyle Zajec - will be interesting to see. Captain. Played multiple positions in a pinch. Not sure if he gets into MLS, but steady enough for a USL talent.
9. Curtis Ofori - project player at left back that didn't see much time last year. Likely back.
10. Luther Archimede - once he started playing after visa/injury issues, he showed pretty well. Hope he is back this season.
11. Michael Knapp - likely gone. MSU grad so there is that going for him. He had some moments where he looked like a pro player, but far more missed or clumsy tackles.

hopeful we can see Bento more involved next season now that hes a bit older.  hopefully they either have a good draft or are more proactive with international supplements to the squad.  Excited to see Sserwadda for a full season looking pretty good for someone coming in midseason
