Couldnt Sekagya also move up to the first team now that Carnell is gone?

Yes, he could. He spent most of the season last year with the first team. I think Eric had mentioned he was needed as a translator for the guys along with the coaching.

I had completely forgotten that Sekagya spent so much time in Argentina until the mention of him helping as a translator came up.

Year-end announcements finally made:

Archimede, Zajec, Tombul not returning.

Archimede already signed with Sacramento Republic. Was hoping to see him a bit more in 2022. Zajec certainly made this team better, but wasn't going to be an MLS player. Tombul is no surprise. Hear he may be heading overseas.

LaCava and Edelman likely signing with first team as most of the time "Out of contract" with players of that caliber have led to first team deals.

Castillo and Conte in negotiations to return. Castillo improved but no better than Edgardo Rito was. Lamine Conte sat the whole season out with visa issues. Hope they are able to bring him back.

Knapp (bit of a surprise), Ofori (already signed for 2022), Rafanello and Sswerwadda returning.

so right now if rumored HG signings happen could lineup as
AJ

???-Conte-???-Ofori

Bento-Stroud
Rafanello-Sserwadda-
Z Ryan-Ngoma/Brummlett

obviously Edelman and Lacava could still feature as well but this should be a better year if they get the defensive holes right.

I do think this year will have more pro players than in the past couple years, which should help. Castillo may come back to fill that other CB spot but both he and Conte are both still negotiating a return.

The draft may help plug some of those positions. Michael Knapp being eligible for the MLS draft a year after graduating and playing a full year with NYRBII, then having the option exercised is strange, but I don't think he's a starter here regardless. I think we still see a bit of Brummett and Cortez in the beginning of the season before college. Sam Williams and Serge Ngoma I believe are both another full year academy players that can help this team.

I can see a few former academy/U23 players signing with the USL team as well.

2022 Schedule:
https://twitter.com/...YdvVwzC1fg&s=19

First two and final three on the road.
Detroit City come to USL; our final home game.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

17 home matches, 4 weekend matches:
2 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday (one of them being Mother's Day).
7 on Friday, 5 on Wednesday, 1 on Tuesday

17 away matches, 15 weekend matches:
13 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday, 2 on Wednesday

Not a big deal to many since attendance rarely breaks a couple hundred, but frustrating for those that do try to attend.

Makes it easier for our massive traveling support!
USL schedule makers obviously not enamoured
with RBs lame-duck low-drawing MLS farm team.
Perhaps next year Queensboro gets better dates.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Lamine Conte (2nd round draft pick last year) resigned. Has been in a bunch of the preseason photos. Was unable to play for NYRBII last year due to visa issues. Solid centerback that dominated USL2 a couple years ago. Looking forward to seeing him against USL players.

For what club?

He'll only be 26, so he'd still have a year or three here

Juan Castillo re-signed.

At the beginning of the 2021 season, he was awful at left back. He improved throughout the year, then slid into center back quite a bit with no other viable options. Prefer him over Pendant.

All four players that were on the year-end list as negotiating with returns or out of contract accounted for: Edelman promoted, LaCava promoted and loaned out, Conte and Castillo re-signed.

As for who is coaching them? Who knows.
