No reason to run it down by asserting that it wasn't done in house or whatever. And while it's obvious that pulling that off requires significant help from the team and stadium folks, that's just an indication that the Timbers organization understands how to connect with its supporters. If Red Bull can't figure out that strong tifo gets more people talking about the team, shame on them.
However, the fact that people like nando, who have no connection to the people who made that tifo, somehow try to share the glory, is ridiculous.

Our tifo had a mosaic to go with it , but ppl just like to fuck with stuff they have in the seats and don't listen .we will do bigger displays , as long as we have ppl to work on it.
Uhh, i saw the TINY pieces of paper behind the seats when i got to the section... But was never told when to put them up. Was it you on the mic on field level? I saw you trying to explain, but tbh i couldn't hear a word that was being said even before it filled up... I liked those huge cardboard pieces from last year... we should use those to make mosaics in the future, not 8x11 computer paper.
BTW, i hear the mic on the tv broadcast once in a while and it sounds pretty bad - never good to have one voice over a groups voice... but i never hear it in the section since those speakers were removed... is there a speaker in the back? is it useful?

That Portland tifo is amazing. Great idea, great execution, and holy shit that tifo covers the whole end of the stadium.

This I agree with 1000%. Management should be more of a partner to the SG's to aid in making great tifo.
Much respect to the SG's. You guys are awesome. I loved Calvin peeing on the Scum's logo. It reminded me of Irishapple
Forza Metro! We love ya. Oh, and Fuck DC scum.

it has never been a secret that I supported United (my hometown) since the Timbers were in the USL, now that MLS is here I put all of my efforts towards supporting Portland.
I posted on here because it gets old when folks talk shit without knowing the facts, we will be posting pictures of the work days later this week.

There's been a knock in Cascadia about Seattle buying their TIFO as well, so I remember during one of their large TIFO displays, they actually showed pictures of people painting it and stages of progress, so that no one could doubt it was homegrown work.
I do like their banners a lot, clearly the gold standard in N. America. To any other fan (goes for DC/Philly/NE), I wouldn't suggest that you try to chase or out-do them, be your own club. If you do songs over TIFO, or something else over whatever, so be it. I do think there is plenty of room for us to improve ourselves so that one day we're on a respectable level, but also they have a club of around 5k people and a yearly TIFO budget of something north of $ 75,000. They are in a town with 2 professional sports teams (not 11), and they were able to get their whole city behind it. Kudos to them on an excellent job, don't lose time/sleep/energy hating on it.
I think we need to go in steps. Let's work towards getting a banner that would cover 133-101-102. That would be pretty awesome. Then, see if we can work towards creating one that covered 233-201-202 & 133-101-102. You could do that (it would be a herculean effort, but still), and you wouldn't need pulleys and a hookup to the roof, etc., just a shit load of time, money, effort, paint & fabric. It could be done (on a day with a full house) by starting at the top of 233-202 & pulling it down. If we started thinking about it now, we could have a south ward 3 section banner ready for playoffs.
