We're a game above .500.  Seriously, 1 game above .500.  That's how shit the east is this year.

I think we're gonna see "sensible" moves that don't cost too much this window.  A winger to replace Richards, perhaps some help on defense, all cost-conscious. We're not paying 10 mill for Chicharito tho.

and yet even with that the club is one of the top 5-7 teams in the league, and have played 2-3 less games than the majority of the league, hence the W/L record.   In fact if we won the next 3 games we'd be at the exact same place as DC who have 3 games in hand.

top 5-7?   Actually, we are in 8th place (based on ppg) and that's with the benefit of playing against the weaker East Conf most of our games.    "If we won three games in a row..." is silly, since we haven't won three league games in a row all year.  If Toronto wins their game in hand, we drop to 9th.

Actually we are 7th in PPG not 8 and HAVE PLAYED 2-3 less games than the teams with better PPG.   My point being, this team isn't doing badly despite being "cheap" or "on a USL" budget and to ignore that is silly and worse.

LOOK HERE.  EIGHTH.  And PPG makes games played irrelevant.    How does playing more games make you ppg better?

You have the chance to pick up more points, that might be how.

so is saying this team is performing badly.  Sorry.  If you are judging a team on their record when they've played 2/3 less games than teams with more points and better records that too is beyond stupid.  Sorry again.

We are in 8th by PPG, though the idea that we should be really excited about being in 7th is hilarious. The whole benefit of the Red Bulls nonsense was that we were going to spend and win, making the whole thing more palatable. The fact that we are at the point where people are saying "LOOK WERE IN 7TH NOT 8TH" shows how underwhelming the whole thing has been.

Also when comparing teams using PPG, games in hand do not matter, that's why PPG exists as a stat.

I love the way the guys on the field play, they have a ton of heart, as they did last year, and earn some great results. If we scrape a decent run out of this season with the thin and cheap roster put together by lead consultant Ali its a testament to the players. With that said the east is unquestionably weak. This team is not on par with the top teams in the league and is a few injuries away from disaster. If they actually invest to fill the team's needs in the transfer window that would be something, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I agree this team needs a few more pieces.  I have a problem acting like this season is some embarrassing disaster solely due to the team not "spending money" or the right amount of money in some peoples eyes.  When they are performing well.  There'd be a point if we were on the bottom of the table.

We are playing like a mid-table MLS team, because we are structured on the cheap like a mid-table MLS team.  Nothing more or less.

Anyone know how many points Red Bull has picked up against teams who have players out for the Gold Cup? If it's significant, doesn't bode well when they return.

Only if we play those teams again.
Plus we have players out as well.

This thread is giving me a headache.

We are 7-6-5. Isn't that the definition of mediocre?
