#1364555 MLS, Red Bulls and Coronavirus

Posted by Eleazar on 06 April 2020 - 09:45 PM

based on what I do for a living I'm a Paramedic
And finishing nursing school

I work in one of the biggest ERs in Florida and have been in EMS going on 17 years....

I had to study shit like this in nursing school as well... This is not going to end with a snap of the fingers... The human body has no immunity to COVID19.. People can get it more than once and every time have a higher mortality rate.... It creates scared tissue in the lungs if you get viral pneumonia from it and if you survive you're left with scar tissue in the lungs which is COPD and then you are more susceptible to getting it again and worse than before

but what I'm saying is said with absolute confidence, while what you're saying is based on experience. so what I say counts more. #sarcasm

keep up the good work, Milo. be safe.

Just finished S2 today. Even knowing exactly what happens... it's just brutal.

Hope no one ever makes a Metro documentary. (We do have those 3 Shields...)

Also watched the Italian hooligan flick "Ultras" on Netflix. the main character looks like my 5th grade Math teacher, Mr Bellucci. at least this was better than Puerta7, a little better than The English Game, mainly because the score souned very Clockwork Orange-y/Giorgio Moroder-like.

well due to everyone being inside, I started watching S2 of Sunderland Til I Die on Netflix. I enjoyed the 1st season a lot, the whole time just feeling for the fanbase, dealing with all of the turmoil.

I noticed a graphic at the beginning of S2E1, they said avg EPL salary is $4m. avg Championship salary is ~$900k. League One avg salary is $125k. just thought it was interesting given what we know from the MLS Player Union releasing MLS salaries twice a yr.

it would be my preference to have a lot of South Americans on the squad as well. sadly, I don't think it's happening.

Hope everyone is staying home and watching old highlights of some good footie matches.....

I don't see this slowing down till mid summer... Every area will be different u think June for the part of Florida every day in the ER I work at we're getting 10 severe new cases and up to possibly 40 new mild cases a day.. So hopefully hot weather will help.. but NYC might still be reeling till late August....

I don't see the season starting back up this year...

Unless they start up late August to empty stadiums and try to cram 15 - 18 games in 3 months which then to me playoffs make sense... I have never liked playoffs but that's another thread....

Stay safe and stay home

Be safe, Milo. my Mom's a retired RN, so heart goes out to you and other medical industry employees that are the true front lines in this fucking awful time. Cuidate, primo.

True story: I asked Cordt Weinstein after a game (one of the 2 he played in) if he is Jewish.

He is not.

We had to settle for Jeff Agoos... :(

Wasn't Leo(nid) Krupnick?

So hard to pick JUST 4.

tough call.

Totally. But that's why these threads are fun once every so often. You could rack your brain for a little bit and come up with a Top4 of:

American players

Central American/Caribbean

South American

African etc

I ran into him after the last Chivas game in 2014. He remembers the love. A cult hero if there ever was one.

Don't forget "Show us your Clint!" Remember how you came up with that one -- Grant Wahl came to 101 back in 2001 when he was working on a SI profile of Mathis. I think it was the hat-trick game: http://www.metrofana...tory.jsp?ID=121. He asked if we had any Clint-specific chant, and you came up with "Show us your Clint"... At least that's how I remember it.

Grafer! Harty was a great choice, but he would be my #2.

coulda sworn that Wahl was wearing leather pants or something just as unsightly.

saw Grafer once by the Cube at Astor Place. he was already retired and was, iirc, attending to cooking school. saw him, recognized him, then belted out his song full volume. he looked around to see who was singing it, didn't see me, but pumped his fist a bit as he continued walking west towards Broadway.

"Mt Rushmore" of players where supporters had a song/chant about them and was sung at the stadium. Songs about a player after he left Metro don't count.

Grella/Zizzo (We all dream of a team of)

Mathis (Clint Mathis Magic)

Howard (the tourettes chant)

Ammann (He plays great with a broken chest)

Jolley (For he's a Jolley good Metro)

Stammler (One Shoe)

Magee (Let It Be)

Chung (Everybody Mark Chung Tonite)

Villegas (Viva Villegas medley)

Joseph (He Can Run For Miles)

Ballouchy (Tequila)

Grafer (They're Grafer Pants)

Rodgers (He Loves To Fucking Fight)

Coundoul (Bouna Time)

I'm sure Jamison can remember some more in-stadium songs about players that were with the team at the time.

#1364172 RBA can be loud AF

Posted by Eleazar on 25 March 2020 - 09:45 PM

MLS site had nice interview with Jesse.  https://www.mlssocce...high-press-life

Doyle with the shoutout to Chef Leon and the Lot 16A tailgates. Shit was like Thanksgiving every home game Leon hooked it up.

Same podcast, Charlie Davies (BC!) said that when we're in the playoffs, RBA is loud AF, one of the loudest in the league. I'll agree, sometimes you can just FEEL how massive the atmosphere is during a particular game. Watching the Shield game yesterday, plus the 24387 times i've seen the 20+ minute condensed highlight of the game on YT, RBA can e real loud.

yeah, that one was depressing, cuz i know exactly what those fans feel, and i don't blame them one bit for expressing their anger and frustration.

Beckham game was memorable. coulda sworn plenty of ESC ppl tried to get to Lot 16A as early as possible ~3 to 4 hours early!

Fun part was doing the super early march-in, so that no tourists jack the seats in 101 for the game. so most of 101 was full 30 mins to pregame, so I called out that we do the shortened song list of what we were going to sing during the game in that dead time before the kickoff, just to tell those around us who were tourists and 1st timers that there are ppl here who support the home team and we have a fun time doing it. Everybody was jacked and seemed that everyone wanted to flex and sing loud as a fuck you to the pro-Beckham tourists.

As a result, one guy even got a lifetime ban from Giants Stadium crowd surfing about 15-20 row during "Wipeout".

Fun times.

Right. Also Hurtado is an interesting prospect in that he's a tank, like Cosgrove. We kinda need one of those brute force strikers, the very thing Abang was supposed to be. Would love to have him here on loan, but doubtful cuz of the pricetag.

Lacava might be an option, smaller than Rza. Spanish passport, though, so why would he even bother to be here is the question.
