#1367277 Hamlett gets a new boss: Kevin Thelwell, Head of Sport

Posted by Tymatt on 17 July 2020 - 12:14 AM

This has honestly been a disastrous start. He’s struck out with every signing he’s attempted to make. The uk market is terrible for scouting talent if you’re not willing to pay the ridiculous prices. I’ll believe Yearwood is actually signing for us when I see on the pitch in uniform.

#1359420 Sam Cosgrove (and Lawrence Shankland)

Posted by Tymatt on 17 January 2020 - 10:19 PM

Watching some highlights on Cosgrove the guy can score and I mean he can score in any sort of way. Sure some of his goals are from the spot but he reminds a lot of Jozy Altidore, has the pace and strength for sure and a target for goal. We really couldn't go wrong giving Cosgrove one of our dp spots. I believe he'll definitely bolster our attacking options this year. I'd love to see Jorgensen or Barlow play off him. His transfermarket might say 570k but if we want to buy him he's going to cost over 2 million dollars and there's a track record of Mcinnes and Aberdeen not liking to sell in the winter months as we saw when GMS was linked to nycfc last winter and didn't come until the summer. I think it'll take Red bulls about 3/3.5 million dollars for a fee and a contract between 500k-1million dollars to get the man. You can't forget Cosgrove was linked to Lazio over the summer. I think this will be really good business from red bulls if we get this deal done. Still a bit to work on we need an outside back preferably on the right side now for depth unless we can count on duncan being healthy for a full season. We also need another cm/cdm in there to compete with the current crop and a winger but that looks to be josh sims thankfully coming back.

#1355987 The Fire Chris Armas Thread

Posted by Tymatt on 23 October 2019 - 01:59 PM

I can’t say I’m surprised that Armas and DH are staying. At first last season I was hopeful in the early mid season we would see them be getting the axe at the end of the season heck I even initially campaigned for it but I've gotten smarter these past few months. I’ve taken the positives and the negatives of Chris armas and Denis Hamlett and what their vision of this club is and what they happen to be trying to do. Not a lot of people like what they’re doing. I have understood each move they've made and their reasoning behind it, it's not like these guys don't know soccer. I’ve pretty much accepted that I won’t see this club win an mls cup or us open cup in my lifetime and I’m young unless Red Bull either change the way they conduct business and improvise, adapt, or innovate the mls team or Red Bull sells and we get a fresh new ownership group, name and they bring a jolt of energy into the club and also adapt, improvise or innovate in the mls game. Anyway I’ll be here for the ride next year no matter what, who’s with me?

#1350960 Young premier league winger = Josh Sims

Posted by Tymatt on 06 August 2019 - 11:54 PM

When I heard we were getting a prem winger/fullback I thought it would be someone who had never seen a single minute for the first team. This is a good signing/loan if we complete it. I thought we were going empty handed in this window but to know you’re bringing in a guy who’s fantastic at taking on defenders 1v1 one hundred percent a better passer than muyl and Derrick and still has a hell of a right foot despite some finishing problems I’ll take it. People look at goals and assists to define a player, this guy is 22 and while he’s played in like 30+ games in his career he’s still managed to bring in decent shifts and still developing. People are mad Jorgensen isn’t a first teamer but give it time that guy is scoring a heck ton of goals in usl, next year and perhaps the rest of this year with Barlow, white, and Jorgensen scoring goals and sims and kaku supplying them we look like a promising outfit. I know we need to spend more and we’re always a piece away and it’s frustrating, heck I’ve written many frustrated posts but I really think sims is a promising signing. One more thing to the doubters on his goal record, before Josef Martinez or most of the guys in Argentina hadn’t had a lot of goals or any and then they start bursting them in at a staggering rate, I’m just saying keep an open mind. This guy is 22 has 20 prem apps, this isn’t a bad signing at all it’s actually a really good one better than I thought we’d get.

#1345761 Metro - Montreal Game Thread

Posted by Tymatt on 08 May 2019 - 11:47 PM

Drop points to Orlando, Minnesota, and now Montreal at home all inferior team, once again montre fucking all. Let’s not add they had no piatti tonight or no sagna, no novillo, and tadir didn’t come on until the 85th minute. Let’s not add once they got the goal to equalize, Montreal takes out an attacking player in Browne and replacing him with a cdm in azira. This is fucking shameful, they were playing for the draw and we then proceeded to give up a boneheaded penalty. We deserved this loss and we got incredibly lucky beating Cincinnati and the galaxy in our last two games the defense we have is beatable now and it’s shown. The defense has been in shambles, it is unacceptable to go from mls greatest defense to a laughing stock. Giving shiny new contracts to long and Parker have surly helped and despite the dumb penalty he gave up tonight long has probably been our only competent defender this year due to lawrence being hurt for most our games so far. While Lawrence helps shape up our backline it doesn’t matter when you have a scrub and defensive liability in lade on the other side. Murillo despite sometimes making boneheaded mistakes needs to start again, we should go back to our roots and play Lawrence, long, Parker, and Murillo, don’t get me wrong the times we did it this year looked shaky but that was ccl against very good Liga MX competition. We look terrible in the attack, for all the chances we create we can’t finish them don’t get me wrong this isn’t a new occurrence but the chances are even more minimal under armas and his identity and system. If you’re asking me our home record should be 1 win 1 draw and 4 losses right now and that’s being kind we could’ve lost all 6 games. None of our home performances have given me any sort of confidence yet this year. There’s no way we’re getting points on the road either if we can’t even get a draw against New England. Things fell apart big time against kc away and Chicago another defensive mistake costed us that match. This is unacceptable somebody needs to be held accountable and I think both hamlett and armas should be shown the door not only for poor results this year but for trying to turn this team into something it isn’t. We’ve lost our way and identity, kaku has been completely neutralized under armas it’s amazing we do this to our 10 and probably best player, no wonder he’s unsettled and wants to go I can’t blame him. The high energy, the pressing it’s gone, don’t get me wrong it needed to be tweaked at points and Jesse didn’t do that but armas has almost gotten rid of it entirely. We can’t keep possession and we struggle to keep the ball still and that’s with losing our intensity. Other than our games against la and San Jose creating chances have come at a minimum this year. While I like Brian white and his qualities to get the occasional hockey assist and hold up and sometimes open up play he shouldn’t be our starting striker. We need to fill a lot of positions this summer with the tam and gam we’re sitting on to get someone who can play the 6 this needs to happen even if ccj pans out, get somebody who can play as a striker and also add a crafty star on the wing, my dream would be to trade bwp to Colorado and get two dp caliber players but that won’t happen, however we need to sign a third dp obviously but it needs to be the right player at the right position probably one of the positions I described preferably in the attack, but all of this needs to happen under a new gm and coach to make sure the transition goes properly and we get the underachievers in armas and hamlett out of our club. Even though marsch was an underachiever and made a lot of poor decisions  that’s the reason we didn’t win mls cup with him but at least he stayed true to his system and identity. I write this only because I love my club and I’m tired of seeing a club that’s been capable of winning mls cup every year since 2013 find ways to fuck it up not because it’s a curse or bad luck but because of incompetent coaching, and lack of spending on the right players by the fo, it’s heartbreaking.

#1342683 2019 CONCACAF Champions League Thread

Posted by Tymatt on 13 March 2019 - 12:14 AM

Im literally sick to my stomach after the performance tonight, Im tired of playing 15 beautiful minutes of soccer and then seeing that garbage for the rest of the game. Rza has to come in not Derrick... The moment I saw those substitutions I knew we were finished. Im just glad they finally bagged their chances to show just how easy it is to break down our system because they were doing it even with two centralized midfielders out there. With Adams gone were missing a pure 6 fuck I miss dax so much even if he was apart of the losing culture this club has in important games. We had the worst pass success percentage in mls last season and boy did it tonight show, this team doesnt know how to connect play in this system, its almost like they go out running like wild gooses chasing the ball like its their meal and once they get it cough it up again. The whole Red Bull system with developing young players is great in all and they are capable of producing talent but the philosophy of how we play at the professional level has to change. Robles, bwp and lade have to go after this season, I thank them for all their years of service but I think weve gotten the best theyll give. We have holes at the d-mid and right wing that have to be addressed with the tam and gam were sitting on. The third dp should be filled with a bwp replacement and keep bwp on as a secondary option until the end of the season which then opens up another dp spot to address a need we have then, and Jorgensen is still a project and developing, we could perhaps play him alongside our new dp striker. Another thing is there needs to be more unity with the community and the club and also more unity between the fans themselves and also we need Red Bull, mintzlaff, de grandpre, hamlett, and armas to be held accountable if they dont achieve the goals of winning mls cup, connecting better with the fans, changing the Red Bull way and being more open to change rather than being yes men, winning the open cup, enjoying the game and doing everything they can to make this club successful. If they cant do this we must unite as fans and get in people that can achieve these things. One more thing since marsch and armas have come we havent been able to finish our chances for shit consistently and gosh am I so fucking tired of it and the system we play, itll never win mls cup or ccl or open cup or club World Cup. Also spend the fucking tam and gam were sitting on Lawrence and long are not dps even if they play like them, you still have money to get a dp on either the wing or striker and tam and gam to get a dm and  depth behind our players especially for Lawrence who we missed so badly in these two legs.

It looks like Hamlett said we are adding a hgp I assume Omir Fernandez and also another piece in the coming week. I’m hoping for something exciting but a dp quality winger is probably too much to hope for

#1338212 Amro Tarek

Posted by Tymatt on 13 December 2018 - 02:51 PM

I went to a match earlier this year as a neutral  when Orlando were playing Nycfc(can guess I have a relative who supports them) anyway Tarek and Spector were both playing as the two CB’s. Tarek has a lot of qualities I like through seeing that game up close and a couple of others for Orlando on Espn+ this year. As some have already said I’m sure Cj brown had a lot to do with acquiring him. Tarek definitely played much better with Spector before he got hurt that very game and had to be paired with lamine sane for the 2nd half of the game and also for most of the season too. Tarek is quick, strong, athletic for a cb has a left foot can play left back too and reads the game well enough to at least be a 3rd choice cb. If you want my opinion when he was playing tarek had to basically cover the whole left part of the pitch (cb and lb)defensively considering Orlando’s left back el munir couldn’t defend for shit through all the games I watched Orlando play. So he’ll certainly cover  a lot of ground. Should be a good option to slot in when we lose potentially both of our cbs during the gold cup plus should be good injury cover.  Could also be 2nd cover to Lawrence if he gets hurt as well. Let’s not forget that Colin wasn’t even playing when we acquired him in 2016 from Orlando and became our best defender that year. Sure Redding was a miss but I think tarek when he has played has shown more than him. At 26 I would say he can still improve tarek and I think he could start in most mls defenses say except for us and skc. Let’s not forget Aaron long was a late bloomer(sure Portland and Seattle played him out of position). Anyway we only gave up a 4th round pick and got a cheap player who won’t count as an international. This was a good pickup and I hope to get more this offseason.

#1319423 Let's argue about Tyler Adams!

Posted by Tymatt on 24 February 2018 - 11:25 AM

Listen, Adams didn't have a bad game, and the stats do indicate that. The problem is that he is expected to be team MVP, being dangerous, creating chances, and this simply didn't happen last night. Was he top five on the team - absolutely. Was he team MVP - not even close. He basically put together a Dax like performance, while we need him to be  a Sacha two years ago. And we really need him to step up to that level to have a chance to be successful this year.

Wow, slow down here and stop jumping up and down like a cock. It seems you have challenge intellectually to grasp a basic concept, if above post is any indication. Let me spell it out for you since you obviously need this. We have an 19 year old, who was already playing like a team MVP at the end of last year. Because of his youth has a higher ceiling of any starters and can improve more rapidly than others. He was also the only player on the team to be called up for NT just recently and everyone knows he will not be with the RB much longer, precisely because of his abilities. So yeah, I absolutely expect him to improve from last year, where he was already better than anyone on the team for last quarter of the season. Whether he can be a beast like Sacha was two years back remains to be seen. I said we will need that type of performance from him (or perhaps Kaku, who is also not much older) in order to be successful. Surely only a complete fool can think that because he is young he can't be a top player on the team - just look at USMNT and Pulicic.

You do realize he's not really used as an attacking player right? He actually reminds me a lot more of a dax rather than sacha but even a younger/much more talented version of  connor lade could be a fair comparison. All being said I think he will improve yet again this season and I don't have any reason to not believe that, I just hope we can hold onto him as long as we can.

Please let this be true, and if we can bank on kljestan with minnesota entering the picuture. This could mark the start of the red bulls being ambitious and adapting to the rising transfer fee's mls is seeing.

Apparently Hamlett is with RB Brazil this week. I guess Salzburg ran out of expendable players?

I hope he's looking in other places. Though some lower tier clubs in Brazil do produce hidden talented players, it's rare. Just look at how Getterson ended up for fc dallas 4 games and out of the league.

#1301179 The never-ending Veron discussion

Posted by Tymatt on 10 May 2017 - 08:34 PM

Eh, in 2015 maybe.  But in 2016 can you really say Grella played better?  Or even Muyl?  Muyl adds a different dimension, so I won't argue against him.  But was Grella really so great down the stretch of 2016 he had to be playing 80+ minutes a game after Royer was hurt?  Especially knowing now that Mike was probably carrying an injury for much of that time?

Mike has earned his minutes and should play more than Veron.  Doesn't mean Gonzalo shouldn't be given a block a decent block of time on the wing, while he is still here.

I agree but for the past two seasons well since he's arrived it seems Jesse hasn't rotated the squad all that much other than for an injury or if somebody has dreadful form at a point.

Because it was time to move on from him a long time ago.

Why are we calling for Murillo over Perrinelle? Didn't think Perrinelle did anything particularly wrong against Philly.

Perrinelle's career ended when he tore his acl against dc in the 1st leg of the 2015 eastern conference semi's
