Meara should be the starter. I never watched Vuolo play, but Meara looks composed back there. Overall, it looked likea preseason game last night. hopefully with a couple more matches and a lot more training sessions, our team will get on the same page.

Unless something changes, we will sorely miss Timmy's distribution. But for the first time I can remember, with Keel, KC and Holgersson, we at least looked like a team that could be effective on corners. For now, I am rating Keel ahead of the big Swede.

And if we actually get a decent starting keeper out of a second round draft pick (still a big "if," of course).... credit where credits due.

Conde is a good distributor.

Remember on Meara that while he was a 2nd rounder (the position # of 31 is the more meaningful #, anything above 20 is usually depth, at best), he was the 1st goalie taken.

Holgersson? Hopefully as he settles in we will appreciate his height and ruggedness over his lack of passing, but it is hard to believe you can make the Swedish Nats and be that weak on the ball.

From what I've seen Vuolo looks good as well. More looks by the coaches in the next few days. I have to admit I'm feeling a bit optimistic regarding our GK situation compared to last year.

Both passed the first glance eye test. A few more games being tested in different ways will give us an indication what we have.

With that said, I don't see any point in signing Burse. I think either Meara or Vuolo are just as good if not better at this point in their careers.

"Obviously, I want to make a living (in soccer), to say the least," he said. "There's so much you can accomplish in the soccer world, and right now I'm focused on having a good season with the Red Bulls. Ultimately, our goal is to win the MLS Cup, and I see no reason why we can't." - #4 Tyler Adams
