Sell him 8-9M
Its nothing for EPL club
No one s looking to flip a 27 yr old. Buying him to play him.

too bad they couldnt brink in Ilsanker but he has legal trouble
tarek would be ok for a bit with Nealis
if they could get a young CM I would say convert Davis to CB.

Hard to sell for 8-9M if his release clause is 6M. Upfront sale vs summer option is probably the sticking point. We'll know in the next week.

Guessing he's gone and we will roll with Parker and Tarek until the summer

We cant even fill out the rest of the roster with the longest offseason in history, no way we would replace Long this window.

If Sean Nealis becomes your 3rd CB you arent serious about winning.

Its been clear that they are not serious about winning this season, just sell him and fire Hamlett then restock next transfer window.

Not too much of a difference between 27 and 29 when it comes to the transfer fee, they're both past the age where you'd expect to be able to flip the player down the line. Long would have to absolutely kill it his first season to garner enough interest from higher table EPL teams for West Ham to ever make a profit on him. I think they can squeeze $6M, I'd be really surprised to see any more than that.

Why squeeze 6m? If west ham thinks he is an epl player then they should buy him at that value. This isnt a flip. This is a finish product who could last them for 4 years. They need someone who can get the job done now.

If west ham wants to be an amateur club then they should stop wasting people's time, not buy epl type of players and get demoted.

Do MLS contracts have release clauses? That # is being floated in eng

It has been debunked by Dyer as far as I know.

I just don't see lower table teams spending more than that on a CB, but I could be wrong. So few teams actually bought center backs in the Premier League this year its almost tough to get a "going rate" but there were a few splashes of $12M-$15M with the rest in the $4M-$6M range.

in europe, the transfer for a starting cb is usually 10-14m

The splashes for 4m-6m is usually from a smaller club selling a contract that is abt to expire, depth piece, or the club having financial hardship.

If west ham wants Long they should commit to him. David moyes is trying to unsettle Long by offering an opportunity to play in EPL but not offering what he is worth.

David moyes is familiar with MLS. Has a goodbtrack record of bringing mls players to the epl. He is trying to leverage his position to get a bargain

5m for long? No way. He is a USMNT starting CB and can play in the premier league. He is at least worth 9 -12m. 5m would be reasonable if he was 29.

0.0% chance of him being sold at that price. No CB in MLS , weather US or International player, has ever been sold for that much. That fee would actually double the highest CB transfer from MLS. MLS is not know for having top CBs.

Weather anyone on these boards think its fair, right or anything else.......its just reality.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York.
