Start it off.

A client just offered me $300 for my ticket. I told him to go fuck himself. My boss didn't like the language.
Told him beckham probably wouldn't play and the offer was rescinded.

Chelsea just announced a partnership with disney

From all the yellow cards last night, I look for Klein to get a straight red while knocking out Drogba for the year after a studs-up slide tackle to the leg.

We'll see how the backline handles the constant chelsea attack. Xavier and Essien should battle for awesome-est haircut.

Should be a pretty physical game.

Looked on tv like there were plenty of chelsea fans. I have to believe there will be a ton saturday, who hopefully with other G's fans bought tickets long before it was announced as beckham's first match. I hope for a great atmosphere and competitive game.

Prediction: many near chances. Beckham plays on the bench, enters in the 89th minute for one set piece and scores. Galaxy win 1-0

My predictions:

Grown men urinating off the back of the Big Red Bus.

Someone falling off of the Big Red Bus.

A lot of upset people in 138 that bought their tickets through Ticketmaster.

A lot of upset people at The HDC when Beckham sits out. Hee Hee Hee

Is it August 5th yet?

Edit: Oh yeah, 4-1 Chelsea

What bonus ticket is this?

It's 1 & 5, except you don't need to bring #5. You can throw it away.

I hope Chelsea keeps the score in single digits.
I hope Abel Xavier breaks someone's leg, IN A FAIR TACKLE. He's capable.
I hope Beckham plays, as a sub at the 88th minute.

...ooooh ooooooooh we are the riot squad...

The game is postponed because Becks has an ingrown toenail.

I have a feeling that the game is going to get rained out.

I see a 6-0 win for Chelsea.

Goals by:
Drogba (39, 55, 73)
Pass Back Pete 29th min (Pete passes back to Cannon and the fucker completely misses it)
Twigg 85th (Wiskey)
Pavon 90th (figures since he cant score for the galaxy why not score on them)

:(

I'm figuring Klein is out because of the red card, and given that it is the second game in the "tournament". So we must deal with Drogba and company with yet another patched up lineup. I'm posting the lineup I'd like to see.

-----------------Cronin------------------
-----------X-------------Harden---------
Roberts----------------------------Jazic
------------------Gray-------------------
----LD------------------------Martino---
-----------------Becks-------------------
------Pavon------------Gordon---------

LD saw a lot more of the game at right mid. Both Martino and LD can carry the ball. It's time to scrap the 4-3-3 and play a 4-4-2 either like the above as a diamond in the middle, or with Gray and Becks side-by-side. I think Becks can rely on Gray to support him, and I think Becks will work hard in the middle to help Kelly take off on a few of those mazy runs he makes.

I would also like to see the back change from a flat back four match-up approach to an umbrella four (a modification of the flat four) that keeps it's shape and keeps everything in front of it. This system would suit Harden better. He's good when the game is in front of him. He has a hard time when the shape has been altered due to matching up and there are players behind him.

I would also like to see a rotational system that depends more on rotating and filling, rather than tracking back. It just seems that the G's lose their shape and are not able to rebuild it. Rotational systems always have shape as long as everybody does their job. Tigres used a rotational system, quite interesting. They were always able to keep a defender free to cover. Defensive midfielders quite often covered for defenders. With this type of system there will be a bit less possession and more counter attacking. The G's seem to be better on the counter attack. They just don't make good enough decisions with the ball to play possession as the only approach.

A few more players behind the ball, a defense that keeps the game in front of them rotating and filling rather than tracking. The team would create numbers through attacking and then resetting. Again Tigres did this as do quite a few South American teams. They counter attack then reset getting numbers forward and finding late runners.

The system the G's have been using is not a bad one, but there needs to be some kind of change. Some way to give the team a fresh start. Martino, LD, Gray, Klein, and Cobi are all better in transition than in possession. Cobi's pass to Glinton a few games back illustrates the point.

EDIT: Many Dutch team use more rotation and cover.

1)2-1 Chelsea. Goals by Drogba and Essien. Galaxy goal by Cobi.

2) Our little corner drowning out the sea of blue in the stands

3) Booze all around

4) Beck's miraculous ankle recovery

5) Regardless of outcome, there will be alot of naysayers. But who the fuck cares about them.

Gotta think positive!

Go Gs!

More like Klein gets a straight red for being on the receiving end of a studs-up tackle from behind from Drogba. If you want to be consistent with Tuesday.

i want whatever it is you're smoking... but keep dreaming.

only part most likely to come true is becks entering in the 89th minute. if we can at least get on the scoreboard (and not by an own goal or sloppy play), we're golden.

my money's on someone falling off the bus due to uber drunkness.

I think someone should start a pool: How long into the trip will someone fall off the bus?

Just kidding, but seriously.

I think that Becks will start and play 40-50 minutes and will be subed for Cobi.

The one thing that would be interesting is if some idiot on Chelsea steps on Becks' ankle. What would the FO and management do? What would happen to the idiot? ...kinda makes me laugh, even though injuries are never wished on our own players...(except Jaqua [I lova ya man])

i dont think the Blue boys will embarrass us at our home. they have a future here in LA. they won't fuck up the financial relationship. but they will take us to school. Chelsea will beat the Gs and they will show how subpar this team really is. they won't score more than 5.

i say, 4-1 Chelsea.

i hope Beckham rests.
