Raisenballisen - who knew that is German for Red Bull Out.

love the team hate the brand

even they acknowledge most teams are national or global businesses

ahh the first world problems of having a corporate parent who spends money on young dynamic players and coach and they reach semi finals of the (top) international club soccer competition...........

just wait till they flame out again like they fumbled the Bundesliga top spot to Bayern this year...

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Interesting note from the Times article is that the "older" supporters group is disbanding but being replaced by newer groups that are compromised of young fans who grew up with the RB moniker. Even here I think RBNY is failing - they should have been targeting local high schools and colleges for years so that by now they would have a stronger contingent of early 20something fans at their games.

Instead we've got the same bunch of boomers bitching about the name, families arriving in the 25th min and leaving by the 80th to beat traffic, and "real" ultras that can't even agree on which song to sing next.

lol to the last paragraph.

RBNY is all over youth soccer for the last 10-12 years now.  Kids think Red Bull is a soccer team not necessary a vodka mixer.

The kids I know watch EPL, Champions League and maybe Bundesliga

I need to finish up work so I can make that 3-5PM meeting today.............

Yea, my kids went to some Metro games, but they really only remember Red Bull. Most of their friends wouldnt even be able to tell you the team used to be called something else.

I think a lot of kids that are high school age are just not that interested in attending games. The process just takes too long and theyve already watched 6 hours of games before MLS kicks off.

RBNY is all over the youth soccer league, which takes 10-15 years to "pay off" (i.e. convert them to paying fans).

Contrast this with dollar night at NJIT, Rutgers Newark, Saint Peters University, Kean, Stevens, which would have had a much quicker return.
