From a top 5 spender to bottom 5. Just like that.

In defense of San Jose Earthquakes West, they won a Supporter's Shield before we did.

Let's see what happens this summer.

Let's see what happens this summer.

This plot is tired and the ending always sucks.

It seems Philly fans have signed up on metrofanatic to vote for themselves (in 'What team do you hate more?') . No real fan of this team would vote anything other than DC.

Yep there goes another smh moment.

Henry Cahill and olave for klestjian Felipe and zubar. I'd love to see the guy who said not bringing in world class talent is the key to success.

Let's wait until the summer before we complain about only having 1 DP.

Yea I'm sad about Henry but he was old and chose to retire. Cant do anything about that.

Cahill though? Who cares? Most Metro fans say good riddance to that. Who should they bring into replace?

Let's wait until the summer before we complain about only having 1 DP.

As Beto said, we all saw that movie in 2012. It sucked.

The sequel in 2013 was also shit.

In 2014, our non-DP scored 27 goals, so, I can't hate on that.

But it's 2015, and we have 1 low level DP, 1 would-be-low level DP paid into non-DP status w allocation cash, and 1 open slot that they can't fill. (that's what she said).

Sure, there might be better options in June. But, since dropping Marquez this team has gone something like 6 transfer windows without bringing in anyone paid north of (call it) $ 5-600k.

Let's say Sascha is making $ 600k and BWP is making $ 750k for arguments sake.

They don't have to sign Gerrard at $ 5m/yr to make us a top team, but, there should be someone in the $ 2-3m range that would boost the quality. Houston just paid $7m in transfer fee to get Cubo Torres. Houston will have a salary way under TFC, but still north of us (by all appearances). Where is our ambition, exactly?

We went from about $ 13m in salary to something like $ 5m. They don't have to get back to $ 13m to shed the cheap label, but Houllier himself said they'd be spending less. They are now spending around $ 5-7m less per year than they were in 2014. That's a lot fucking less.

So, you can't give us the "hey...they aren't being cheap" speech when:

a) they said they were going to spend less money

b) they are spending less money

Could we sign a 'major DP' in June? Possible. But, I'm going to be 'not surprised' when they don't.

Where would we have to be in the league standings in July for making a significant DP signing to not make sense?

In a top position, probably - the case could be made that we would have the talent to compete without wasting money.

Being marginally in a playoff position and sitting on our wallet while other teams made signings would be foolhardy.

Being marginally out of the playoffs and doing nothing would be short sighted and would prove that RB no longer was seriously committed to the team's success.

Being terrible and doing nothing would be an insult to supporters - even in 1999 we brought in better and more expensive players late in the year, and in 2009 we sacked Osorio before the season ended. Being bad and doing little to nothing would be damning.

I have season tickets that last I checked allow me to attend games starting in March.  More than half the season will be played with 1 DP.  Sorry, I feel free to complain now.

We probably aren't going to get any more DPs.  Leipzig is an expensive team and RBNY isn't turning a profit.

i wouldn't have a problem getting a player who has valeri/higuain level talent/salary. would be a great fit, especially for 500k-750k.

Summer DP signings never contribute their first half season.
