MLSsoccer.com started doing a series of making a Mount Rushmore for every team, "the most influential players for every club". Hopefully, Doyle can provide some feedback, or we'll end up with some nonsense. Anyway, my four:

1. Thierry Henry

2. BWP

3. Mike Petke (as player and coach)

4. Clint Mathis

Toughest omissions: Angel, Robles

Maybe Robles over Mathis... Ugh. Tough call. Yeah, kinda has to be. All-time leader in games and all GK categories + 3 shields. Sorry, Cletus.

1. Titi

2. BWP

3. Petke

4. Robles

Spot on.

Wonder what people's thoughts are on BWP v Henry for the #1 spot. 1.5 years ago most were on the BWP bandwagon, but I wonder if the latest metro playoff failures and the whimper of a final season have made people reconsider.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

It's not just goals + assists, or Petke wouldn't be mentioned here. Titi changed the culture of the club, on and off the field.

not just goals + assists ... Titi changed the culture.

Then Caricola. He had an even larger effect!

By that measure, Andreas Ivan is better than Robles ;)

But sure, if goal count and scoring rate are the only considerations, BWP is #1 and it's not even close. I happen to think there are other important factors.

I agree with Metrofanatic's analysis. I could consider putting Adams on based heavily on the fact that he is a homegrown and it would be good to have that part of the club's success represented.

Got to see both and Titi should absolutely be ahead of BWP. Willing to bet a lot of money that BWP would say the same.

I'm a relative newbie, from 2010 on:

1) Thierry Henry

2) BWP

3) Dax

4) Robles

Thierry will always be king for me. No Red Bull has been even close to as fun to watch, and at the end of the day that's what we're all here for. Despite all the team's recent success, I haven't gasped in awe at a play since Henry was here.

can't we just add 2 more spots and get Angel and Robles in there... I think Jesse Marsch should be considered as well

Since it's just a hypothetical ideal all time greats.. Well then my Rushmore has 6 faces and it's Henry BWP Petke Angel Mathis and Jesse Marsch... Those guys were Bastions when this club had their best times
I just want Metro to win a title sometime in my lifetime.
