#1356889 Southampton offered Long?

Posted by Eleazar on 18 November 2019 - 11:15 AM

totally fine with Parker and Tarek being CB1 and CB2 for now. would need CB3 to be a guy like Tarek this yr. can get 15-20 starts, stays with the 1st team, isn't sent down to RB2. CB4 or CB5 can be Nealis.

#1356831 Thierry Henry to Montreal

if BWP went to Montreal Henry coaching style would be first practice call up BWP in front of team

Henry would not say - Hey this guy is great he scored 20 goals in 3 seasons first player in MLS History to do so

Henry WOULD SAY - this guy missed so many chances he would have had 10 more in his best season than Vela did in 2019!!!

Love me some crazy COMPETITIVE Henry!

high expectations and higher demands of himself- amazing teammate and motivator but tough to be coach in salary cap league.

Fun it will be for sure.

this is the best about Thierry Henry.

"You're playing your hardest? Cute. Play harder. Excuses count for fucking shit."

your best ain't enough. zero leadership from the '19 team.

my bet is that MTL wins CCL, but have a rough go of it in league play. mutual parting of ways after winning the Canadian 'Ship over TFC.

fine with Royer staying and Kaku. both are integral to next season, imo.

#1356532 Davis' destiny

Posted by Eleazar on 06 November 2019 - 12:55 PM

We need 4 CMs who can start matches, to compensate for injuries/suspensions/callups. Need to keep Davis. I'd expect the team to keep him along with Rza and Casseres. Could use a TAM level guy to partner Casseres as the starting tandem if it's still 4-2-3-1. I also think that Rza isn't an everyday starter. He'd be the primary sub for the CDMs should any starter go down. But to keep him at $450k though? Rza's best attribute is that he can play alongside the 6, but can play the 10 in a pinch. But it'd be bad if he gets a lot of games, imo.

#1356517 The Fire Chris Armas Thread

The team was great under Marsch. Then he left, along with Tyler in the January transfer window, and the team started to suck. So it also stands to reason that Armas is the only real problem here.

need to add this for context.

Hamlett needs a huge offseason, especially with the three new scouts that they have/will have on board. Well let's compare offseason acquisitions in the Curtis/Hamlett eras.

Both SDs found "fits" and made it happen early either prior to the season or in the 1st month or so. If we have to wait for the July transfer window, I'd be really worried. The only pattern I see with both Curtis and Hamlett is that the yr in which we won a Shield, each SD had a HUGE offseason in January.

Courtesy of this site's "Transactions Page", below are the players both Sporting Directors signed that weren't college players, HGs, or reservists. Also, they're players who contributed to the 1st team.

We need a transfer window that can yield us the 2020 equivalent of Jan-Mar of 2018.

Re Rangnick's/Hamlett's involvement and roles, you have to ask if Ralf's not gonna be coach, or Sporting Director for us, then what role is he going to take that makes us here better for next season in league play, USOC and the playoffs?
If Ralf is here in the Americas to be "RB Sporting Director (North and South America)" and he looks to acquire/sign and send players to both Bragantino and RBNY, that's not a problem at all. Be the guy that connects with agents and other team admins/executives to facilitate player movement into our team, not just placement of our players to RBS/L.
Hamlett can keep his gig provided he focuses on:
getting younger players from our academy and other academies to be HGs
signing promising RB2 guys onto the 1st team
being an MLS native/local to assist in facilitating transactions within MLS, or USL-C/CPL.
Dunno how much confidence I have in Hamlett being he guy to handle all the duties above, so maybe it's best to have Ralf handle a int'l portion of the SD duties.

and that's what the position sorely needs. it worked well enough when Grella and Sam had the starting gig, both weren't super fast or the most defensively sound, but they had the 1v1 skill that this team sorely lacks on more than one occasion.

Oh well, LAFC got this one, so it's down to LAFC, Seattle, TFC and Atlanta.

I've got no interest in watching any more of that, so I guess it's 'see you next year, MLS.'

dunno, as much as i don't like any of these teams, as a neutral, it's fun to watch teams that spend.

but next yr, there should be ZERO reason to have BWP on a DP contract. So it'd be Kaku and Sims only, if Sims even returns.

i liked how those who left our fanbase brought the playoff losing vibe to that team.
