First thing we need to do this off-season is sign Franklin; he really came into his own down the stretch of this year.Franklin = will he sign a new deal or leave?
Gonzalez = will he stay and play out his final year (+ force his way into the USMNT team with guarnateed playing time) or will a foreign club make an offer to good to refuse for the G's and Omar himself?
Then the team should do what it takes to keep Gonzalez on hand long-term; dude is becoming a monster in the best possible sense of the word.

going back it's interesting that they kept bex protected. this leads me to believe they've had greater discussions about his future in LA. perhaps he will be back one more season....
As he's still under contract till December 31 and likely always had a no trade clause, the G's have to protect him, no matter what, even if he leaves and joins another club from January 1st onwards.

Would you offer the DP spot and $ to Gonzo in order to keep him a G?

Hejduk to retire/play on?
Frankie Hejduk turned 37 in August and as one of the last remaining MLS originals, just completed his 16th season in professional soccer. He said he plans to take some time before he decides if he wants to suit up for a 17th season.
“I’m going to party for a few days and see how it goes,” he said with a laugh in the postgame locker room Sunday. “I would say right now that I want to play another year because I’m so excited and I’m having so much fun.
“Ending it on such a high; is an upper. It’s pointing more toward that direction (returning), but I’ll talk to the coaching staff and everyone and see where I stand. After I come back to reality I’ll figure it out. Right now I’m on top of the world.”

Aside from Birchall, the core of the team is protected. In all honesty, there's no player on that last that can't be replaced. I like the choices that were made. Especially in terms of keeping together the back line...
The Franklin question is a big one. Part of me thinks he'll take the shot at Euro fame. I won't like it, but there's cover on the roster if that does happen. AJ is a solid RB and the team can finally get a proper CB to partner with Omar.
With players like Gregg, Jovan, and possibly Frankie retiring I don't think the salary issue in terms of GK situation is really that big of a deal. I think the G's can keep both of them if need be. I think Bruce likes the idea of having two potential starters at the 1 and 2. That's one area where you don't want a drastic drop off in quality anyway...

Is Perk a drastic drop off in quality? He played brilliantly against Man City and the Flounders this year, and I think he's a solid #2. If we can make some money off of Ricketts, I'm all for putting him on Craigslist.

I’m just excited. I’m excited for the guys, I’m excited for the Galaxy, for AEG, for everyone. It’s a collective effort and any way you can contribute is important, and that’s the biggest thing that I learned this year. There were times when I couldn’t do it on the field and you have to find ways to contribute in other ways, and I think I did that.
...
You know this is my family. This is where I feel most comfortable. It would be great to be back, and Bruce has indicated that he wants to have me back, so we’ll see what happens.
...
It’s obviously something special for me. I’m going to miss being on the field competing of course, but it’s time to start a new chapter in my career.
Brought a tear to my eye! Thanks for making Omar into a beast! All the best Beerman!

I don't really know and drawing a conclusion based off two games (one a friendly) is not enough evidence in my opinion. Remember how awesome Steve Cronin looked in a couple games before he was deemed the G's starter? Is Perk a drastic drop off in quality? He played brilliantly against Man City and the Flounders this year, and I think he's a solid #2.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Perk is no Steve Cronin, but both Saunders and Ricketts are proven MLS starters. Those are the facts...
However, I think the G's will retain all three into the offseason and unless a really good trade gets dangled in front of Bruce, the GK corps will remain the same...
