I can appreciate that even though its always tough to swallow a move that immediately makes your team worse. But was resigning him really out of the question? He's still in his prime, local guy. Would being a free agent have driven up his asking price by that much more than he's making now?

For about a year the Parker/Long pairing was fucking unbeatable. At its peak I'm not sure MLS has seen a better defensive duo ever.

And personally if we ended up with a straight swap of Parker for Reyes, I'd be pretty disappointed. Miami fans really make Reyes out to be a project, not a guy who you can rely on to step into the starting lineup day one.

Houston traded Struna to MTL and are super thin at CB, but Id imagine most MLS teams would salivate at the thought of having a domestic non NT player like Parker on their rosters.

Hopefully the interest can help RBNY drive the price up and they can get high 6 figures worth of allocation money if they  want to pull the trigger on a trade.

What did Caden Clark do when he signed?  He was 16.  Did he live on his own, with roommates, a host family?  Also, he would have been in 11th grade, most likely. Did he continue school, in NJ or did he do some online or homeschool program?
 
As you point out, if RBNY is going to recruit players to the academy from around the country, what are they going to have as far as living arrangements and schooling.  These will be kids, and they won't be on a professional contract.

lives in a nice apartment in Morristown his god mother stayed with him. He did online schooling with SALA an education partner. Plus academy working expanding homestay. Will have an article coming on all of this eventually
