"I am especially excited about this opportunity because I grew up a MetroStars fan," said Cila. "I can't wait for the opportunity to prove myself both in MLS and in front of my hometown fans."

From his bio on RSL's site:I think he scored twice against the Metros once.
"Recorded his first two goals of the year and the first two of his MLS career in the Rapids’ 3-2 win over the MetroStars on June 30, he opened the scoring for Colorado in the 13th minute and then scored the game-winner in the 89th minute to be named the MLS Man of the Match" - this was in '04.

I was at that game, that was the double header with the Peru-Argentina game. From his bio on RSL's site:

I hated Jordan Cila that day ...

I like the fact that we're bringing in another local guy.

Depth or Magee gone?

I think this is a steal. A player with 2 years of MLS training and game experience (although not day-in, day-out games) for our last pick of the supplemental draft. Scored goals in both his rookie year and sophomore year. Though listed in some places as both an F and M, I think most of his time has been as a forward.
It does make one wonder what is to become of Mike Magee....

Does anyone know how his games played were spread out over the season? (Did he end the season playing, or start it, or was someone injured, was he injured, etc.?) The bio has no info, that I could find, on his '05 season outside of raw stats.

Guys, comparing this guy to Magee is absurd. Magee is a fringe nats player (according to Bruce), and has shown the talent to be a decent player. To say that he is coming here at the expense of Magee would be foolish I think.
If he is here for depth though, no problems from me. I mean, it's not like he has torn up the league; he also has local ties which is positive for me.

good signing for depth. Will serve as "fuel" in the preseason to battle others for positions. Being local is cool. the fact that he grew up a metro fan is cooler.
and for a 4th round supplimental pick (more like 8th round pick) it was a steal.

I don't know about that - Cila's had some very good moments, even for a RSL team that was an embarrassment to the sport. And his game is very similar to Magee's - so much so that my first thought upon learning of his acquisition was "This is the end of Magee with Metro."Guys, comparing this guy to Magee is absurd.

I played with Cila from 6th grade to 9th grade.
I haven't seen much of him since he joined MLS, but back then, was the best player on the field by light-years in every game... so from what I remember, getting him for a 4th-round supplemental draft pick is a steal
