#1352051 Murillo vs Buckmaster

Posted by regulator on Yesterday, 10:22 PM

Exactly this. The high press from last year covered up a lot of deficiencies in the back line. Last year we barely gave up any goals and had 4 international level defenders.  This year parker has fallen off, Murillo disappeared, and long is no longer the stud that the USMNT thought he'd be

So, you don't have to run to his defense, as you often do.

Seriously lmao

The whole "allure" of joining RBNY is you could put your few years in and then you'd be sold to Europe. If we start holding players back, we'll see less Long / Murillo level players and more Niallis / Buckmaster level players.

If we sit back and absorb pressure, we'll get run the fuck over. If we press them and rely on our D to win 1v1 battles (tantalizing matchup between healthy Kemar and Vela) then maybe we'll surprise them.

I have little faith Armas Will get the tactics right - we'll probably come out with a 5-4-1 with Bwp in midfield. After going down 2 goals we'll make an adjustment that is too little too late.

#1351323 No local outreach by the club

(wasn't sure where to post this so I went straight to BTDH)

This weekend in Newark there's an Ecuadorian street festival (music, food, drinks, kiosks). It's taking place adjacent to Newark Penn station (in other words not very far from our stadium). You'd think this is prime real estate to have some RBNY presence - street juggling team, reserve players signing autographs...hell even Red Bull girls selling cans of the new RBNY special edition can.

Nope. Nothing here. Seems like yet another wasted opportunity. Attendance from NY fans will be tough for the next few years given the PATH situation, but the majority of people at this festival are NJ-based - the club should be jumping at these opportunities to promote the team.

FFS, just put murillo at right mid and put an MLS capable starter at right back.  Kind of a moot point now that we signed Sims but still

So with an option to buy I guess anything short of Etienne shitting the bed at Cinci basically guarantees they sign him right? They need MLS ready players and Etienne is exactly that. I just wish we could have gotten Ndam back since he's doing nothing but wasting away and depleting his potential in the ruck of Cinci.

i think Cinci loaned out Ndam to a USL side, and reports are he is not doing well there

i think it's criminal that Muyl was the favorite over DE7.  Give DE7 Muyl's minutes and he'd be way ahead in development.  But, I guess DE7 "doesnt fit the system".  BS.  Whatever, good luck DE7

#1351027 Young premier league winger = Josh Sims

Garbage. A half season loan at a logjammed position and an RB2 signing. The way this team has wasted a decent roster only in need of a few pieces is just...an indifference-maker.

Not okay. Red bull out. They will never do what it takes because their ownership of this team is about marketing, not soccer.

Their ownership is most definitely about soccer. Just not this specific soccer team.

Our continuity is as high as any other team in the league and its masking that the level of talent (especially in the attacking third) is not at a level good enough to win MLS Cup.

Look around the league at the attacking talent on each team and then compare it to what we have. I don't see it changing sadly.

This league has quickly moved into a have and have nots... Red Bull New York is a have not.

#1 goal scoring team this year is LAFC.  They are a huge outlier at 61 goals for.

#2 is, surprisingly, Philly. They are at 46 goals scored (including 5 goals last night)

Tied for #3 are Atlanta and....us.   I get that we have it hard wired in our ethos that we suck, but really we are not all that bad.

Quaresma would hopefully engage some of the Ferry street contingent.

unless the winner of this automatically qualifies for CCL the following year, i will probably not go to any of these matches.

isn't it generally agreed that they valued Casseres highly and that's why they didn't feel the need to go and get someone new? And judging from his performances I'd say he normally puts in a good shift. Very mobile (much more than Davis) but needs to clean up his passing.

Between Rza/Davis/CCJ/and now Beze coming back, I think we are ok in central mid.  Now if we could just do something about our wingback depth...

---------------BWP

Etienne------Kaku---------Omir

------Casseres--Bezecourt

Kemar--Long--Parker--Duncan

-----------Robles

Need some rotation in there. I'd also expect to see Ivan at some point. Good to see Bezecourt back in the 18 last night, I'd guess he gets some time out (maybe split some time with Davis or Rza off the bench)
