USL Championship kicks off today. First two games are at halftime...

Zach Ryan with a goal and an assist for Loudoun in the first half.

Florian Valot with an early contender for GOTY with a long distance shot.

What's up with Queensboro FC?  I thought they were supposed to start this season, after getting pushed back a year due to Covid.  The most recent stuff on their website is from last summer.

USL wiki says debut TBA,

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

The stadium they were going to play in started construction during the summer of 2022. Not sure if they finished.

Krane doesn't have the capital to be running a team in NYC. Now that NYCFC is building a stadium in Queens (on the exact same spot Queensboro was planning) ownership realizes they are going to compete to draw fans. Add the David Villa co-ownership piece while the harassment case was going on, not a great look.

I'd be surprised if they ever kick off in USLC.

Thanks for the info.  QFC may be carrying on the legacy of FCNY, NY Centaurs and a bunch of other fly by night teams that have come and gone over the years in this area.

I wonder if it would have made any difference to them if NYCFC was going to build in the Bronx?

I would think so.

Queensboro FC will move to MLS Next Pro in 2024 - Território MLS (territoriomls.com)

looks like they are not going to USL anymore and will expand to MLS Next Pro in 2024.
