We are going to stay locked down forever. MLS is going to fold. America will never recover.

(am I doing this right?)

Insane how whoever is moderating this site wants to push a doom and gloom outlook at all costs by moving anything remotely positive to the dead horse forum.

Nothing is allowed except fear porn.

Question: Are the new cases spread out over the state or concentrated in certain areas? Asking because one of the things I can't understand is why one size fits all policies for entire states are being used instead of realizing that not every part of a state is the same. For example if the vast majority of the new cases are in North Jersey and very few are in South or Central Jersey wouldn't it be sensible to keep current measures in North Jersey while easing them for the rest of the state? And yes I realize we are in North Jersey so no games at RBA anytime soon but was just making a general point.

The fact that some places are already reopening gives me hope that MLS can identify more suburban areas (and maybe even USL stadiums) where they could start the season up again, obviously without fans.

But as to your question about reopening lesser-hit areas...that has been an emerging viewpoint, but it's not going to matter in a few weeks anyway as the public is going to be forcing the governors to reopen their states through mass non-compliance of whatever measures are in place now.

You already see it happening in California. The governor there has been trying to close certain beaches during the hot weather yet people are still showing up. Some businesses there are opening up again too despite state orders to remain closed for the time being.

People understand the risk but also see the numbers and realize that it's time to start reopening things in a safe manner. The weather is getting warmer. They are tired of having to navigate crappy state unemployment systems that don't respond or pay out fast enough. They want to see their family and friends. They have had enough of their children trying to do all their classes remotely, which simply doesn't work at all for younger students. They want things to start becoming normal again. And it's not just hard right wingers who feel this way either, despite the way the media has been trying to spin it.

I realize there are thousands or millions of people who think that Covid-19 is caused by 5G cell towers. There are thousands or millions of people who think Covid-19 is bioweapon produced by the American military. There are millions of people who think vaccines cause autism.  Should we respect them and welcome them to shape government policy?

This pandemic has certainly reinforced Asimov's observation about Americans more than any other event during my life time.

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge. - Isaac Asimov

Democracy does not mean you have to respect the opinions of the ignorant and uninformed.

Not sure why you decided to go on this rant, but my point is simple. People are entitled to their own opinions. Not everyone apparently shares the same level of concern as others. Not everyone is scared of going outside, like ElMetrofan apparently is.

Im laughing my ass as some Americans are not following the guidelines to stay home. Maddening and insulting to health workers.

How is Nee Jersey doing from a local perspective?

Do you realize that there are more opinions and thoughts out there than your own? All of the world doesn't think exactly like you. People aren't gonna stay home.
