#1338844 Attendance again

Posted by juberish on 08 January 2019 - 11:25 PM

What cities would that be?  I have been to every stadium in the East, except Orlando.  Only ATL could be considered downtown, and no one lives near it.  Plus, despite the hype, it is a crap venue.
In the West, I have been to Dallas, Houston, KC, LA Galaxy, Portland, & Seattle.  Only Houston & Portland could be considered downtown.  Again, no one lives near them.

The boost of being "downtown" isn't so much about living near it but rather overall convenience of getting there and back. So while the ATL stadium is not in a residential area, it is centrally located and the surrounding infrastructure handles the large crowds well. Just being centrally located is huge.

I've been to most of the stadiums you listed too and the ones with better attendence seem to have these more convenient locations. The Galaxy don't do that much better than us in attendance on paper (both inflated right?) and don't seem to have an enviable situation.

While I personally agree that it's NBD to ride the PATH to Harrison, it's a barrier for many. You can't strawman that away.

So are we just thoroughly conditioned to not expect that a DP signing is possible any more?

We need to find our high press again. Where did it go? Did Jesse take it with him?

The loss of BWP is not as great as the loss of our high press.

He was a lone striker. Who was ahead of him?

You expect to see some combination play with other attacking and wide players.

#1325798 Leipzig poaching Adams

They should just give us clauses that cover a % of future sales and bonuses if he plays X amount of games over the next two years - cover our asses both ways on the comp

#1325550 Some people have children

Count me firmly in the camp that believes sporting events are there's no place for children anywhere, anytime that can't walk on their own yet. Maybe I'll change my mind when I have kids one day, but it just seems very impractical for yourself and for your kid.

#1324205 I still want a third DP

Posted by juberish on 22 April 2018 - 12:09 PM

i know it's like finding a magical unicorn - the right fit who works in our system\culture\locker room and satisfies a need - and we can argue a lot about what that need is, etc etc etc.

that's all valid.

i still want one. i still miss having a leader like Henry.

#1319488 Let's argue about Tyler Adams!

Posted by juberish on 25 February 2018 - 02:47 PM

Because I have high expectations for Adams this season? If you don't have high expectations, that means we disagree, that's it. Grow up.

How about we talk about our expectations for you this season instead. This is a decent begining but you're really falling short of the levels I know you can reach. Are you going to be able to raise your game to meet the high bar set by those who have come before you? And then will you be able to consistently perform across all threads? Only time will tell, but you have some work to do.

#1318317 Cahill leaves for Asian $$$$$

Posted by juberish on 07 February 2018 - 09:45 AM

Maybe I'm just a cynical asshole, but since he was here I've felt like Cahill was just chasing paychecks and more interested in maintaining/building his brand than he was playing football. If he was just patriotic as fuck and cared a lot about Australian football, he wouldn't be leaving the A-League. Playing for the national team is his most valuable venture and offers the best sponsorship deals - so he prioritizes the national team over the clubs who pay his paychecks. I mean, the guy auctions off his goal celebrations for cryin out loud.

#1316111 Sacha to somewhere

Posted by juberish on 03 January 2018 - 12:49 PM

Marsch coaches confidence into guys, a kid like Rivas may respond well to that.

I'm just not sure what to make of the Veron example yet. Lets see what he does in DC.

#1316108 Sacha to somewhere

Posted by juberish on 03 January 2018 - 12:42 PM

Rivas couldn't make it in Colombia... He is not a good player.. He is not a starter and not a good acquisition.. He's better than nothing.. They obviously move Sacha because they want to free up space for a new acquisition... The team ran through him and they want to change that..

Rivas' last year in Colombia he scored 12 goals in 29 games from the wing.

Sacha was moved, in part, because it's the last year of his contract and we'd lose him on a free next year. Makes sense to get value for the 32 year old now.

Orlando has a sell-on clause that slides down in % the longer we have the players.
