Is it a failed lowball moment if they end up signing him on a free transfer in July?

Yes.    We need every key player in camp.

Why take the risk when it becomes only the players decision? We see how that is working with someone who has been with the club his entire career.

he's in the last 6 months of his contract. they're lucky to be getting a fee at all.

Exactly
Seems good but lot of loans in his history snd lot of 1 year at places. Good for Rapid Wein
But hope we still get DP10 or a U22 DP 10 to develop in addition to this guy

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

It is still only the player's decision past the 6 months.

When he scores the MLS Cup winning goal in 2022 they will erect a statue of him outside RBA that will double as a taxi stand.

send them 250k and tom barlow

and Pendant.

hope we still get DP10 or a U22 DP 10 to develop in addition to this guy.

all three U22 spots are occupied per MLSSoccer website, Yearwood Reyes Monzon.

If there's still a 'Young DP' option, that could work. It's how we got Kaku. His 1st yr, his salary was only $200k against the cap as a 22yo.

So he could sign a pre contract with NY on Dec.30th?

We don't really play with a 10 in our system (at least as it appears we will be playing), but we have Taxi and Morgan sitting behind Klimala, so not sure where a DP 10 would fit in.   Maybe we go 4 2 3 1, but not confident that is in Struber's plans.

dp 6 to replace Davis 🤔

I love the fact that anyone is mentioning a DP 10 as anything other than a joke.

Why would we do that when we have CCJ, Amaya and Tolkin as options there?     Do you even know us?

We sign DPs. Not a ton of them, and all too often they don't pan out, but it's not completely insane to think we'll sign one.

Maybe we convince them to take 300k and Barlow hahaha

They might counter with 250k and no Barlow, :P

I am happy for us to sign this guy & pay a bit of a fee to get him in early rather than waiting until July, but, he seems like a guy you sign as a hopeful starter/rotational piece to fill out the lineup. We still likely need a few more special players, but if he can help fill the void left by Clark & others leaving, that's good. Would be nice to get more dangerous in the midfield- I don't feel like our offense really scares anybody.

I just want to mention though...Dan saying that it would be our first Greek international...I feel like this is disrespecting Facepalm God Ted Chronopolous somehow.
