#1357827 Kemar Lawrence wants out

Quotes from Taxi:

Is this club gonna figure out how to work with him after he turns 30?... I get the Red Bulls are always trying to make a decision that’s best for them, but when do you look on my side and be like what’s best for Kemar? They won’t, so I have to look out for me.

The way things are lining up this year, it doesn’t seem like we’re in the mindset to run for a championship. It seems like we’re going back into a rebuilding structure, you get me? … I’m just not into all that, to be honest.

It always feels like we don’t want to pay somebody to keep them or get the right persons. Always trying to save some money or do something the cheaper way instead of investing in somebody and watching it turn over, you get me?

#1357641 Has the team ever been booed on opening day?

They almost certainly will be.  Justified or not, Armas will be boo'd on opening day, and I think the FO genuinely doesn't expect it or care.

Pay him or sell him to Europe now that Jamaica cracked the top 50 and he can get a work permit.  Guarantee we could get a few million for him over there.  Do not want to face him in this league.

Signing parker, lawerence and long to big contracts are not big moves?

Their contracts are paid by the league. In the areas the team can actually spend money (transfers, DPs), they've shown no desire to be competitive outside of the Kaku signing. At every opportunity they cheap out and make some excuse about "the system"

Yeah no shit. They have to actually spend the money they just opened up to make the team better. Presumably, that's the plan.

That's presumably been the plan for every transfer window since 2015.

He'd be better than Armas, but I'm still not sure he has what it takes to be a good coach.  You can only yell at people and tell them to be a world class player like him for so long before the novelty wears off.

Edit: Also slide tackle teenagers from behind.

I get what your saying. But its not just the results that have people mad. Its the fact that we are the 2nd lowest spending team in the league. And haven't even used all 3 DP spots for years now.

Fun fact, Josh Sims actually counted as a DP, so we technically used all 3 for the second half of this season.

Your comment is dead on though.

That was a Ronald Zubar level PK to give up.  Literally no reason to dive in and he did it anyway.  Nowhere close to the ball.  And then the peneka down the middle.

Lol, see you later losers.

#1355707 Bring back Sims

Posted by Indyanapolis on 20 October 2019 - 10:42 PM

I like the guy a lot for MLS, but from what I've seen, this is not a true EPL material. Even if he is going back for now, hopefully we can buy him during the off-season.

He's definitely not Premier League material, but with the crazy money in that league, I doubt Southampton let him go for less than a 5M dollar transfer, and I'm not sure he's worth that.  Who knows.

I had some hope that he might stay when he was moving his girlfriend out here, but his recent comments made it sound like he wants to go back.

Throwing cash at a young player who ends up being a bust isn't an unforgivable sin.

Making that your only attempt at trying to improve the team is.

Throw all the stats out the window people. It's the playoffs. If we put on our big boy pants next week, we'll win. If not, we'll lose. That's the only stat that matters.

Somebody get Ali Curtis to bring us some big boy pants.

To be fair, Cincinnati is a historically bad organization and only got into MLS because there's nothing better to do in Ohio.  I wouldn't say it's an indictment of Ndam.

#1354011 Random Player Name Thread 2019

Posted by Indyanapolis on 18 September 2019 - 03:43 PM

We paid one of the top 10 transfer fees in MLS history last season and we paid a $2M transfer fee for a player this season.

I have no idea or the answer. How many teams ha e spent as much as us in transfer fees over the past 2 seasons?

If you want to believe the Transfermarkt reported fees, here are the ones higher than Kaku in the past 2 years.

  • Brian Rodriguez, LAFC: 11.3M
  • Pity Martinez, ATL: 14.6M
  • Pozuelo, TFC: 9.9M
  • Brian Fernandez, POR: 9.9M
  • Mitrita, NYC: 8.8M
  • Ruidiaz, Seattle: 7M
  • Andre Horta, LAFC: 6.2M
  • Barco, ATL: 13.6M

Teams that have out-spent us on transfers are easily LAFC, ATL, NYC (Mitrita + Haber), TFC, POR.  Maybe a couple others are close with a handful of 2-3 M transfers.

Worth pointing out Kaku has dropped down to the 14th highest transfer in league history.

  1. Pity Martinez, ATL, 14.6M
  2. Barco, ATL, 13.6M
  3. Brian Rodriguez, LAFC, 11.3M
  4. Pozuelo, TFC, 9.9M
  5. Brian Fernandez, POR, 9.9M
  6. Mitrita, NYC, 8.8M
  7. Almiron, ATL, 8.3M
  8. Michael Bradley, TFC, 8.2M
  9. Jermain Defoe, TFC, 8.1M
  10. Clint Dempsey, SEA, 7.5M
  11. Ruidiaz, SEA, 7.0M
  12. Gio dos Santos, LA, 7.0M
  13. Andre Horta, LAFC, 6.3M
  14. Kaku, Metro, 6.1M
