More annoyed by the header which was worse then the PK

#1347263 Development around the Arena

Posted by Metrohoboken on 06 June 2019 - 04:30 PM

I attended game last week , 1st this year , still a gravel parking lot , took 1Hr to get out of the lot when leaving. They need to improve the roads into the Stadium and have a parking garage . RB Stadium is world class but the parking and roads into are at best high school level.

agree that is poor

Walk (if able) or take the shuttle from Newark Penn.

Park in Iberia or Newark Penn lots 20 min walk beats sitting in traffic for 1 hr

Post game near the arena and let the lot clear out

at least on my end the hope is that with him overseeing operation RB would be filling to increase the budget.  They only let Jesse get Kaku after proving his chops for a couple years with results and good signings.  After Andy Ivan signing and Jorgenson I don't think RB global is doing cartwheels over giving us a budget to spend a lot of money/salary without Ralf involved. Even some of the elite younger guys (i.e. Casseres) are not as far along as I thought they would be when we first signed them

I think this will be more budget, better scouting and better development.

from Joe Goldstein - NYRB2 is a feeder club to us and made the finals 3 years in a row + a Championship.  Not terrible if we are feeder club to Leipzig.  Ajax is a feeder club to lots of teams and they are pretty competative.

Since I have stopped posting positive messages in game day threads, we've been doing better. That's the only reason the team has improved.

although this could be viewed as a positive post so please retract

#1346405 Zizzo retires

I liked Sal.

I didn't like how Jesse used him so much - especially subbing for Kemar in the USOC final in KC.  Although he did assist BWP in the semi final win over Cincinnati

Lots of people had good things to say about him as teammate and person.

Apparently 35 on all time appearances list for NYRB!!!!

Above Tyler and just behind Gio / Mark Chung and Tim Howard.

Good pic of him in NYRB kit for his retirement announcement.   2015 SS winner!

Best of luck Sal !

"Giuseppe? It's Dennis Hamlett. Still interested in 'the MLS'?"

Wouldnt hate that move but would prefer dropping 10m like Portland in a 24 yr old Argentinian striker or mid

We need to get back to .500.  This where it starts. NE definitely beatable. And Foxboro no longer problematic for us like in the past. We can walk out with a result.

The falcon has spoken and hoping the eagle can land this weekend and fly away with an away win

#1344415 More teams are eager to spend money

Posted by Metrohoboken on 15 April 2019 - 12:09 PM

I live in Chicago and don't own a car, because I'm an annoying millennial. For me to get to Toyota Park (SeatGeek Stadium, whatever the fuck), requires me to do one of the following:

A) Walk a mile to the Red Line, take that 30 minutes to Roosevelt, switch to the Orange Line, take that 20 minutes to Midway, then hop on a bus (express, fortunately) for another 20-40 minutes, depending on how close to kickoff you get there. Total commute, round-trip: 3.5-4 hours

B) Take an Uber to Fado's (15 minutes) to get on a Pub to Pitch bus (60 minutes, minimum) that arrives about 90 minutes before kickoff. Total commute, including waiting around for the gates to open (could tailgate with Section 8 - I'd rather not): 4 hours

C) Take an Uber all the way there. Cost: $50, each way. Time: depends! It's 30 minutes each way with no traffic, but with, it can be anywhere from 60-120 minutes. Stadium traffic there is appalling, especially if it's a game that more than 12,000 people want to go to. Usually, I wind up hopping out about a quarter mile from the stadium and skid down an embankment off the road, through some bushes, before walking to the stadium. Probably shaves 20 minutes off the wait. And picking up Ubers after a game takes at least 20 minutes.

I live 19 miles (about 14 as the crow flies) from the stadium. All of these options suck! Soldier Field, meanwhile, is just that walk to the Red Line, straight to Roosevelt, then a 15-minute walk to the stadium through a nice green space.

I've been to 9 games at Toyota Park since I moved here in 2012. I'll go to that many in a season if the Fire move to Soldier Field.

option c is some urban adventureneering

#1344145 The Fire Chris Armas Thread

Posted by Metrohoboken on 10 April 2019 - 05:31 PM

I want to love Armas, but you watch the behind the scenes videos and could swear players are on the verge of rolling their eyes at his rambling "Guys? Guys! You got this, guys" speeches, that are always a little too self-referential for me. Don't ever recall a coach saying the word "me" and "I" as much as he does when he talks to the team in those videos. Seems almost insecure.
I think he can work with an upgraded roster, but right now Jesse seems more suited to motivating and preparing a moneyball kind of setup to win week in, week out.
That said, Omir, CCJ and oh yes DE7 offer the steel, swag, and creativity this team lacks in the midfield and attack. Kaku looked much better at the end of the MU game when he had another slick playmaker in Etienne to play off of. He seemed to come alive and played a couple of dangerous balls into the box. It helps to play ballers with other ballers to get the best out of them {insert rant about the weak rosters Henry played with, especially in his first 2 years}.
The talent is there to be better than this.

Maybe the I is him taking responsibility
Maybe he should say the teams passing doesnt suck by 5% below the 2nd to last place team, horrible switched off defending and a lucky own goal did us in.

#1344097 The Fire Chris Armas Thread

Posted by Metrohoboken on 09 April 2019 - 07:47 AM

Individual + Senior Leaders + Armas (if Armas is not a kick ass coach then Luis and BWP need to bring that intensity)

1 - poor intensity - Armas and vets needs to stress this.

2 - poor passing

3 - poor individual defending

Armas issues

4- slowing game down instead of speeding it up

5 - trying to fit in Jorgensen.  Allow kid (and rest of team) time to adapt

6- play Omir as the team looked best - quick smart skillful with him in line-up

7- continue playing Casseres

Front office issues

8- mythical DP that will fix everything above + attendence
