So, let's see, the Revs can't catch us (we own tiebreaker), so we can finish 4th, 5th, or 6th.

DC hosts Cincinnati, Toronto hosts Columbus, we go to Montreal.

To finish 4th:

We win, DC doesn't win.

We tie, DC loses, Toronto doesn't win.

We finish 6th if:

We lose or tie, Toronto wins.

We finish 5th otherwise.

Final game of the season and I have no idea who the best starting XI is.  The XI who started against DC were totally unconvincing. Aside from the defense, CCJ and Royer, every other position is totally up for grabs for me.

Royer wasn't great either. A major shake-up is hardly the answer anyway.

Keep rolling the dice and hope we have a day like vs Portland or Philly and not DC or Colorado.

I agree Royer was not good but as he has assisted or scored half the teams goals this season, he is the only one who deserves a pass in my book.  We have no chance to do anything without him as no one else in the team has shown they can regularly create or score.

2018 BWP would have scored on two of the chances Barlow whiffed tonight - we need to finish.

Yeah, definitely not advocating for benching Royer. Just don't think throwing Muyl or Ferbandez on or benching Kaku is a great idea either. Maybe Davis for Rza but that's about it.

Try to build continuity in the next 3 calendar weeks.

At this point I'd just rather not play in Atlanta simply because I don't want to fly/drive there. At least DC/Philly are close. We could play in Toronto too if DC loses, we tie and Toronto wins. I'd rather not go there again either.

I still can't believe Philly couldn't win that game in Columbus knowing nycfc had already lost. If they would have won they just would have had to beat nycfc at home on the final day to win the east.

I would definitely prefer to play in DC. Tonight wasnt pretty, but our track record against them in recent years is excellent.

We finish 5th otherwise.

Think DC and TFC both win and we don't. 6th.

Hopefully we win. Home at TFC or away at DC are acceptable before having to go and play NYC away. Having to go through #3/#2/#1 in a row just to get out of the East dooms us.

Unfortunately having to play anyone in the playoffs dooms us.

And Olsen didn't turn DC into a bunch of whining, diving.. oh, nevermind

we don't create a high enough volume of chance to miss the kind of chances our forwards left on the table table.  Whether it was poor finishing and/or decision making.

Like that counter we had where Barlow has Royer to his left and he's one v one with a defender and ends up playing the ball to Duncan who has to turn back and play it to Kaku.  By then the whole attack was dead.

Our whole attack now looks off and some of it is personnel but some of it is coaching.  We keep trying to score by pulling back ball to Rza or Kaku to cross or wingback going to byline.  Nothing else exists.

Difficult when the system was designed to create transitional moments closer to the opponents goal. Defense has looked much better clogging the passing lanes sitting and pressing out of the middle block they have been in the last few matches, but we dont really have the personnel or speed to counter from the positions we win the ball in.

I feel like it's important to get BWP 90 minutes... And hopefully get him going..

Usually he's a stud all regular season and then fizzles out come playoffs. Well he has been rested and has been cautiously used as to have him healthy for the playoffs... In a way his season started in late July.. So now just need to get him back on the scoreboard.. If Royer can be on point and Kaku keeps playing well and then BWP starts to score in the playoffs I like Metro chances... Those three have to be in good form
I just want Metro to win a title sometime in my lifetime.

agreed.. The solution might be continue to win those balls back in the opponents final third. Then to ask BWP to hold up the play and find Metros fast players on the break like a rushing forward Kaku, Taxi or Sims and then for BWP to peel off a CB and create space to get the ball back from anyone one of them and finish the play.. That or when NY get the ball in the final third a quick shot from distance and pouncing on the rebound..

The biggest thing would be to have taxi push forward more on the left and Sims on the right.... And force balls to BWP...

Either way the biggest thing I feel is not trying to perfectly place the shot or create the highest quality of shot but shortening the time from when the ball is won back to when the shot is taken... Just pick a side and shoot and make the keeper work and rush forward for a rebound...

I didn't understand that when I was younger and still played... I tried to always place shots perfectly near the post or take that one touch to many to set myself up for a shot or to find the teammate closest to goal.. By the time I got in my head that faster release of my pass or shot was possible if I kept it simple I was too old and too slow...

Don't be cute with the ball just let it rip and make the keeper move his feet..
I just want Metro to win a title sometime in my lifetime.
