Grella gets paid very little so he shouldn't be shouldering most of the blame for struggling against teams who bunker.  In terms of those front 4, BWP and Sacha deserve most of the blame for struggling against those teams.  They are supposed to be our best players and are paid as such, they have to figure it out more often.

But then again, even Barcelona struggles against teams who bunker.  It's the only reason a team like Celtic could beat them in the Champions league a couple years back.

Are you somehow suggesting that Tony Watt is never gonna become Scottish Messi?

Hah, there's a name.  Darke even mentioned his name during that Celtic-Barca friendly a week ago.

Was a fun season.  Still pay close attention to guys like Wanyama

Celtic have reached the play-off stage of the UEFA CL.

The Bhoys will play Israeli champs for a spot in the group stages.

That would include 20 million euros in TV money plus 3 home gates.

A loss will place them in the group stage of the Europa League.

Amazingly, tiny Dundalk of Ireland has reached this round as well.

I don't fancy its chances against Legia Warsaw.

Unless the Poles field an ineligible payer again!.

Also, RB Salzburg face Dinamo Zagreb.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Much respect to Celtic supporters for showing solidarity with Palestine in a champions league qualifier against Hapoel which they easily won 5:2. UEFA is already threatening disciplinary action. I wonder if that would be the case if Israeli flags were waved..

Wow, that's awesome. I watched a good chunk of that match on replay last night and didn't realize that. Great atmosphere.

Is it, though?

Considering that the Palestinians chose to elect a terrorist organization bent on genocide, they aren't entirely innocent victims. Both sides, Israel and Palestine, have serious flaws. If Celtic fans were all that pleasant, maybe they'd avoid the fray and show peace signs. Instead they waved flags to be antagonistic (that's why they'll be fined, yet again as they are each year).

As an addendum to this, much of their online forums, Twitter, etc have been full of praise about their "anti-Zionist" stance.

Reflects a lot of the residual Northern Ireland animus, where Pali flags are waved by nationalists & Israeli flags by unionists.

Such is the politicization of soccer.  Sad.

Celtic fans need to wise up, before UEFA hands them an empty-stadium ban.

to hell with both sides of the Auld Firm. wished they got entry in england's football pyramid, just so that other teams would drop multiple goals on both of them.

i'd even root for T*tt*nh*m's scorelines against both the GreenShit and OrangeShit to be 5-0.

politicization of sports is almost as old as sport itself, makes me wonder why it never really happened in this country.

Back in Constantinople the SGs almost overthrew the Empire!

Were Celtic limited to only 250 traveling support in Israel?

Lucky to survive.

Group C will be tough: Barca. Man City, Gladbach,

The schedule makes it look like Barca & Man City will play a first team.

Gladbach's co-efficient is actually close to Celtic's.

Maybe they can squeeze a point at home on 10/19.

Still, it could mean 30 million pounds, according to some articles.

Celtic need to spend it on some defenders, and perhaps grab another forward.

Good to see the Old Firm resume after 4 seasons.

There's no Celtic, without Rangers.

And vice versa.

Next up: Barca!  A slightly tougher test.

Leipzig won. Sold out show it looks like. I feel like they had fan issues before and Dortmund fans protested by not going. It's funny though because they complain about money, but I'd imagine they have a good academy like us and home grown talent. I know corporations in soccer is frowned upon though.
