Kenny Miller was re-signed. It really is sad that he's their best player...

Waghorn's not bad, IMO. Needs to stay healthy. Wouldn't sign an extension. Does he want out? Or just a better salary offer?

Oh well, a new off season and we'll see what happens. I don't expect much due to the financial differences but whatever. We'll see!

The first step was getting back to the SPL. Enjoy that, and the 4 to 6 OF derbies each season, while rebuilding the club. Who knows? You might win one eventually! There's always the Europa League, as well.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Two angles of the celebration after the final OF match of the season.
From the stands:

Congrats to Celtic! Champions again!  6 in a row.

Some are expecting 4 more in quick succession:

Yes, that sucked. It's hard to put a team together in two weeks and compete internationally. They lost fair and square.

Will these losses affect Scottish clubs in UEFA?
Best quip I've seen: "Rangers out of Europe before Britain!"

That isn't more bad news. Rangers didn't cheat. Courts ruled in their favor. Tax avoidance isn't tax cheating. Lastly, the argument that they cheated is based on saying Rangers couldn't afford the players if they didn't use this system. If that is cheating, then ManU, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Celtic, etc, etc. cheat every season since they are borrowing money in order to pay for players they wouldn't have been able to afford.

The bad news is the contention by some that Rangers should be stripped of trophies won during that period.
Looks like the U.K. Supreme Court has ruled the scheme illegal, which may have implications for other clubs.

Celtic drawn against Linfield in Champions Lsague qualifiers. The two clubs have never met. Linfield are Belfast's equivalent of Rangers. There once was a Belfast Celtic, but it ceased operations 60 years ago due to sectarian violence.
Celtic have declined their ticket allotment for the first leg in Windsor Park on July 14th, over safety concerns.

People want the titles stripped because they couldn't win on the field and are bitter about it. Screw them.

As for the U.K., courts ruled in rangers favor. The SPFL was told that there should be no additional punishment.

The whole thing was crap to begin with. Celtic used the same EBT scheme on Junhinho. So whatever...

No. Initially, two tribunals ruled for Rangers. Two appeals courts ruled against it, including the UK Supreme Court.
https://www.google.c...ws/amp/40501361

Celtic used the same EBT scheme on Junhinho.

One player, and Celtic paid up when challenged on the practice. More than 80 Rangers players, staff & directors received >£47 Million, and apparently none have paid their taxes on those earnings.

Rangers should be on the hook for the unpaid taxes, but that club doesn't exist any more. So whatever ...

They "payed up" AFTER taking advantage. Claiming it's different is merely mental wrangling and completely dishonest.

As for "new team"... whatever. It's a pathetic and stupid argument. A parent company went under, the team is the same. Every ruling on that has been consistent, especially with UEFA, where it matters.

Were proceedings launched against Celtic? Or, did it simply respond to an inquiry or notice by paying the appropriate taxes? Unlike Rangers, which has dodged the taxes through the present, and intends to avoid paying them entirely.

As for "new team"... whatever. ... A parent company went under, the team is the same.

If it's the same, why hasn't Rangers paid taxes on the >£47 Million, plus late fees, penalties & interest? It never will.

Rangers used the tax avoidance the same as many teams in England. HMRC went after Rangers as a test case. Because the parent company was liquiditated, no, they won't pay. But stating they did anything wrong means that you ignore the previous rulings and just focus on the most recent. The most recent judge ruled differently, maybe Rangers will appeal, maybe not. Personally, what's the point? Rangers won the case twice in a row until now. Since the parent company is no longer around, why appeal and spend money?

As for Celtic, it doesn't matter if a case wasn't brought. It's all about whether Celtic spent money they didn't have. They did. Does that mean they cheated? No. They borrowed. Celtic was handed land worth millions of dollars by the government. They borrowed money against that land in order to pay players. Did they cheat? Did they get an unfair advantage? Other teams didn't get land worth millions for nothing.

If Rangers supporters were as petty and obsessed with them as they are of us, there'd be Twitter polls about the land deal, appeals to the SFA about the land deal and there would be whinging about titles getting stripped. Real Madrid received something similar and that resulted in massive issues in Spain.

Everyone does what they can to win. Some people try to use a tax loophole. Some people just borrow from banks. Some get land deals. Some use schemes when they can't afford it and get a windfall of cash so they can pay back the money years later.

Titles are won on the field. The teams Rangers played lost their. I'm sad that the fans of those teams are sad enough that their life revolves around trying to take something earned away from from someone else...

4 AM? Please tell me you're in another time zone!

That's how the legal system works. When a lower ruling is reversed by an appeals court, the initial ruling is void. The final decision is the one that matters. Here, that the U.K. Supreme Court. Can there even be another appeal, to the European Court? Why would a defunct company do that?

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.
