Regardless, it didnt really work. Maybe they can eventually make it work.No and it wasnt a true 10 but it was an interesting switch I do think Struber likes having tactical flexibility

I dunno, I like Fabio as a striker but I'm not sure I see much in his skillset that screams #10. His assists have all come from playing the ball backwards from the end line, not forwards from 40 yards out. He's a perfect sub for late games when we need to lump in crosses and throw some weight around in the box, only question is what it'll cost to bring him in for that kind of role and if it could be better spent on a true #10

Yeah - if one of them has to do it, I see Klimala as that 10/false9, making occasional angled runs behind the backline to grab a through ball. But, unless they get some chemistry in offseason, I think your start either Klimala or Fabio, but not both.
I like them both on the team though. There is a definite value in having options in playing style at Striker.

Charles Boehm's understanding is that Fabio's transfer fee would make him a Designated Player. Considering his current spot in the squad as a desperation play at attacking mid, I can't really see this move becoming permanent.

How is that even a question?

Fabio is not worth a significant resource expenditure. He is basically a slightly upgraded Tom Barlow.

Fabio should be coming off the bench
for another team.

In two many games he had good chances to score & failed. He is not an upgrade over Barlow. For that reason he & Barlow should be dropped.

We got rid of Haitian Messi, we brought in Brazilian Barlow.

lol you guys are losing the plot a bit, Fabio has already well surpassed Barlow's production over the past few seasons. He's not a bad player imo, just not worth a DP spot.

FWIW, the Haitian Messi has been outscored by Barlow since he left, playing many times the minutes.

Oh I know, I wasn't implying they made a mistake by letting Etienne go. I saw the opportunity for a corny joke and seized it.

"Well surpassed" is a stretch. In the past two years, Barlow is on 362 minutes/goal. Fabio is at 396/goal. Granted, Barlow has no assists, but when you are breaking the tie with assists, for forwards, its not "well surpassed."
