Fabio is a lot more talented than barlow. Barlow doesn't belong in the MLS. For fabio to return next season depends on the system struber wants to use and if the team will actually upgrade fabio spot for a Big upgrade DP attacking mid. Last two games fabio has been moved to the wing which is not his position. He's better suited as a hold up forward and laying off which is were he was getting assists earlier in the season. If they don't upgrade on fabio and just use his spot for a red bulls 2 player than we should keep him but if its for a major upgrade on the roster than let him go.

Next year I would like to see a striker group of: 1. New better striker, 2. Klimala, 3. Fabio (off the bench, essentially Barlow replacement), 4. Sowe.

Fabio should stay, imo. Obvs not as a DP, if he is at $400k, fine. Still got Sowe as CF3. I'd rather have Fabio as a striker off the bench rather than Jorgen$en or Barlow.

Think it all depends on the future of the 1 striker vs. 2 striker formation.

Primary 1 striker look and they can live with Klimala, Fabio, and Sowe assuming they upgrade at attacking midfield and dont try to play Fabio there.

2 striker formation and they probably need to sign another ST, and have Fabio as the first option off the bench.

Just like when all the people complained saying White needed to go, Fabio needs to stay. He would be solid in Barlows role. So would White. We need to stop letting strikers go who arent named Tom Barlow

"Well surpassed" is a stretch.    In the past two years, Barlow is on 362 minutes/goal.  Fabio is at 396/goal.   Granted, Barlow has no assists, but when you are breaking the tie with assists, for forwards, its not "well surpassed."

Might be in the minority on this but I see no reason why assists shouldn't count nearly as much as goals when talking production for a striker. A goal is a goal, if they make it happen with the very last or second to last touch I don't particularly care.

Extreme example but if we had a striker that did the inverse of BWP's 2014 season with 2 goals and 27 assists I'd be estatic.

Would I be happy of our goalie scored 15 goals?  Sure, I guess.   If a striker is getting 2 goals and 27 assists, they wouldn't be a striker in any formation I can think of.  Every one has a role to play, and if they aren't playing it, someone has to pick up the slack, and that means whoever is picking up the slack likely aren't doing their job, either.     Sure, it's possible that  Fabio is a super-target and magically dishes off to Klimala and the eights so they end up with 10-15 goals each.   There was a stretch early on where that even seemed plausible.   But its not a system I build a team around.

Hurt again by playing as a 10/SS underneath Klimala, but the partnership when both are on the field together in any capacity isnt great. Looking like primary backup ST or bust.

Will get an answer in less than a month about his future here, sooner if they miss the playoffs. Roster decisions are right around the corner.

I've been listening to a bunch of scuffed podcast with USMNT action abounding.

One recent idea that was brought up was some player "frequently checking their mirrors" as in, they frequently scan the field so they know where all 22 players on the field are even if they are not in their field of view.

Fabio strikes me as poor at this... it seems like he receives the ball, and then looks around and tries to decide what to do with it. Just a gut observation.

Nice goal though. Not nice clearance.

Twellman was pretty harsh on Fabio for that sort of stuff yesterday and I can't say he's wrong. Decisions were either too slow, or he was on the wrong page as his teammate when he tried to make quick ones. Thought he did better with the initial hold up play that he had the last time he filled in for Klimala all the way up top at least, and by now you know you can count on a goal every few games just from throwing his weight around the box.

I wish the reported transfer fee built into his loan wouldn't make him a DP. I'd be fine with him as an expensive first striker off the bench kind of guy. But if he's going to stop the team from pursuing help in the midfield, it's not worth it for me.

Yeah, I mean transfer fees can be renegotiated - he seems like a good candidate for that. Or loan extension.
