Jozy has one goal in five appearances for the national team since 2017.  OK, I guess I can't say he's done nothing for the national team, but saying he's done very, very little for the national team in the last 4 years is fair.

I was joking about Donovan and Dempsey.

Jozy is an all time great, but nothing even remotely suggests that he can currently offer more than any one of the top 6 or 7 strikers available to the national team.  It's WC qualifying, you've got to go with your best.  You can't run a guy out there because he was great 5 years ago.

So why are you against idea of jozy getting a look? As you say, its wc qualifying, you go with the best. If he is healthy, why not take a look. What is there to lose? We only had 1 striker perform okay in the last 4 years and he has yet to play against good competition.

Hes not the best anymore. Theres a bunch of guys that are performing at the club level better than Jozy is. Why would he be better for the Nats than those guys.

Also, Metrofantic said it earlier, his attitude has been crappy the last few years. Im not sure hell be good for this team of young players.

Bradley

His fatal brain fart turnover in the dying seconds against Portugal in '14 is always the first "highlight" of his that comes to mind whenever someone mentions his name.

Same with Ricardo Clark (remember him?) against Ghana 4 years earlier.

OK, sure.   No harm in bringing him in and getting a look at him.  Just like there's no harm in bringing in Bobby Wood or Rubio Rubin.  I'm not sure how practical that is now, though, with the tight qualifying windows meaning players get off the plane and maybe have one or at best two light training sessions before a game.  It's really not a good set up for a coach to evaluate a player he's not already sure about or for a player to make the team.   Maybe call Jozy in for the longer January camp, unless he retires before then.

Having said that, I don't see how Jozy could out perform not just Pepi and Pefok at this point, but Hoppe, Nico, Zardes or Dike.  So realistically, calling him in to get a look at him is probably a waste of everyone's time.   And it's not only a question of whether Jozy can contribute more than these guys at this point, but can he stay healthy?  Only 10 MLS appearances (out of 29 games) this year suggests that staying healthy is still a big challenge for him.

I think you undervalue the talent we have at striker at this time.  Yes, they're mostly young and unproven, but they are better than you give them credit for.  And hopefully they will be better next year than they are now, and even  better in 2026. Dike is just as promising at 20 years of age as Jozy was, maybe more promising.  Pefok has 9 goals in 15 appearances this season for Young Boys and in the Champions League; he's only 25 and is entering his prime.  And Pepi?  We'll see how good he turns out, but his 13 goals in 27 MLS appearances this year is a little better than Jozy's 9 goals in 22 appearances in 2007 for the Red Bulls.

Good little video on the behind the scenes in that Costa Rica game. Love Adams and wish he was here as our captain.

USMNT still 13th:

Canada 48th, highest ranking in 24 years:

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Will he stay healthy for the upcoming WCQs?

Played 20 minutes, should have scored 90+3.

Hopefully, he'll get 30 minutes this weekend.  He should be good to against Mexico then.

In this cycle

Karim Benzema called up for France, age 33 yrs

Zlatan Ibrahimović called up for Sweden, age 40 yrs

With 3 games in 7 days, 5 substitutes, coaches want more options, and it makes some sense to call up an old-timer.

But I have a tough time putting Jozy into that category. Injury prone. Maybe he could give us 10 good minutes in 1 game. Maybe.

Benzema 10 matches, 9 goals, 7 assists in La Liga this season
Zlatan 5 matches, 3 goals, 1 assist in Serie A this season
Altodore 15 matches, 4 goals, 0 assists in MLS this season

There arent any similarities between Jozy and either of the other two strikers you mentioned except for age. Benzema is a Ballon DOr candidate, comparing him to Altidore is a...stretch.

Too early for him since he just off of a prolonged injury layoff, but I'd rather have Morris higher on the pecking order than Arriola at winger. Obvs there'd be other guys ahead of him at the position (Pulisic, Reyna, Aaronson, Weah).

RIP Guillermo Romulo, Alexander Francis Orig, Celenio Eleazar, and my Mom, Resurreccion Eleazar.

RIP Cesar Castello, Mike Vallo, Glenn Stampiglia, Bob Paquette, and Warren Lee

Seems like we are looking for some depth at midfield. How far away is Davis from that conversation? At the 6, we have Adams>Acosta>?

If the USMNT plane got delayed due to a snow storm and the entire roster was stuck in an airport somewhere...then maybe we'd see Davis as a 6 for the USMNT
