we will get something in return, in addition to ~750k of GAM, that's more than what Kaku earns.

Without red bull, we never have the strongest academy in MLS set up to develop adams in the first place...which means we lose out on all the other young core of our team right now.

But yea red bull out amirite??

The MetroStars and Vancouver had the best academies in North America for years. Well before Red Bull ever came here.

'Metro makes, the world takes' is a saying beyond out songbook. But hey, narratives.

Really love how far the apologists have to stretch to defend this one. Wait till the transfer fee becomes public.

Did you see the new rumor on YAM, B? New money you get to use towards your cap to buy cheap talent for sell on purposes.

The reality is we've gotten players from other RB teams and Adams was 100 percent going SOMEWHERE, so I really would only be concerned about this if the transfer fee is extremely low. My understanding is MLS gets most of the money anyway.

They give us their trash just so they can work off their contracts, we give them one of our 3 or so most important players (possibly IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR FUCKING SEASON) so I mean it's totally fair.

Who cares if we sell him for a lower than market fee? We only get a small %age to use as *AM, the rest can only be used operationally. Guess where our operational budget comes from? Red Bull.

PS. My (and I assume everyone else's) acceptance of this move depends on it happening after the season.

Yeah. Good.

So we should've pursued Kaku in June, rather than get him this pas tFeb. After all, he was in mid-season with CAH.

you guys...tsk tsk.

A selling team in a seller's league. Did you expect anything different irrespective of the owner? If ya did, beachfront property in Alaska/Brooklyn Bridge for sale.

Are all the other top teams in the league busy selling their most important young players in the middle of the season and I just missed it?

Our season pretty much just got blown into a million pieces with this move because Adams for us is irreplaceable and if he goes mid season we are beyond fucked. The team that we support is going to go another year without winning shit and no, I'm not fine with that.

Not that I want to lose Adams, but it's inevitable and Leipzig, where he knows the system and will likely be given a chance at some point, seems like a great destination for him. If they can keep him until the end of the season, which seems possible if Leipzig plans to loan him out to Salzburg anyway, even better.

Another benefit of sending him to Leipzig is that it shows young players, whether they're from the academy or Central/South America, that the Red Bull talent pipeline goes both ways. It seems like a great selling point to potential star players if Adams does well. Maybe a player like Kaku makes the jump in a couple of years and does the same. At that point, it seems like an easy sell to young Americans who might have options oversees. Maybe a player like Duncan doesn't go to Valenciennes or they even hold on to someome like Olosunde. And a young South American with an eye for the biggest stage might see NY as an ideal jumping off point.

There's been a decent amount of talk about if Almiron is going to leave ATL this summer or in the winter.

I don't wanna lose Adams either, but if we keep him here against his wishes, that's beyond stupid.
